School was out [on game day] and the team was sluggish in the first half.” The Braves also had some mental adjustments to make on the field that night. Robbie Kent Banks SD seeking disabled youth The Banks School District is seeking assistance in locating children with disabilities, birth through 21 years of age, who have not graduated from high school and who are not attend ing or receiving other special services from public school. Educational services for children with disabilities are mandated by Oregon and fed eral law. The Banks School District provides educational programs and services for eli gible children from kinder garten through high school. The Northwest Regional ESD provides educational ser vices for eligible children from birth to kindergarten. All ser vices provided are appropriate to each child’s disability. Anyone who has a child with a disability or knows of a child with a disability in the Banks School District, ages 5 through 21, who is not currently receiv ing educational services is asked to notify Terri Amacher, Director of Student Services at 324-5151. Brian Ackerman is now using his speed to the Braves’ advantage in the running back position. Banks scored first, on a 42 yard field goal by Tyler Ellis. Unfortunately, Astoria racked up 31 points between that field goal and the Braves’ next score. In the fourth quarter, Kent’s 30 yard pass to Chris Sagdal set up Ackerman’s touchdown dash. “In the second half we really competed and played well,” said Buchanan, “but it was too late.” Kent, in his debut as varsity quarterback, passed for 68 yards, 27 of those to Casey Turner. Turner also led the Braves ground offensive, with 62 rushing yards. Ackerman was the hardest-hitting Brave, with 10 tackles. The Braves hosted Clat skanie Oct. 8 in their Home coming game, and lost 22-13. “It was a tough ball game,” said Buchanan. “They beat us up and wore us down.
