«MAA m Ì i '«•»WfcltoGWbciMbMiMÄÄM» I Garage closes and feed store opens to serve Banks community First, Cop’s Garage elimi nated their gasoline service to concentrate on towing and me chanical work; now they have replaced the garage by open ing Banks Feed with a good va riety of major brands of animal and pet foods and supplies. Joining with Dave Cop in the venture is Dina Collier, who will be in charge of the business with his support. Dina believes there are enough pet owners and horse lovers in the area who will be pleased to once more have good products available in a lo cal store. Pet foods wil be available in bulk and in cans, with special prices for persons who buy in quantity—a baker’s dozen is available for the price of twelve bags. Buying pet food by the case is also cheaper. She also carries related products such as salt blocks with or without additives, sham poos, dog bones, wild bird seed and feeders, chicken feed, insecticide (both natural and chemical), and vitamin and mineral supplements. While she has most of the bases covered, she is ready and willing to take requests for other products, along with sug gestions from customers on ways to improve her business and service to the community. A selected inventory of gar dening tools, fertilizers, potting soil and a supply of random used tools are in stock for rea sonable prices. Since the gas pumps are gone, there is off-street parking and loading. Delivery is also available. Project Green Purse for women Dina Collier is proud of her well-organized feed store. Removal of underground fuel tanks used when Sunnyside Service was a gas station has now been completed. Two of the tanks were partly under the building. NO LONG DISTANCE CHARGES!! Old fuel tanks removed from former gas station Pick up your FREE copy of Com puter Bits at Old, underground fuel tanks at the former Sunnyside Ser vice were removed last week by Petroleum Constructors Inc., of Troutdale, almost...but not quite... without needing re medial treatment. One of the tanks was too far under the building to be re moved. It will be filled with slur ry and left in place. There was no contamination from the oth er tanks, which had not leaked, according to Paul Wittbrodt, environmental geologist for the company, who ran lab tests from his specially equipped van. If contamination had oc- curred, Wittbrodt explained, it could be treated on the site with aeration and bioremedia tion. The advantage of on-site treatment is economic; it is less costly than removing the soil for treatment. Bioremediation employs mi crobes which use the carbon in petroleum as a food source. A deadline is nearing for commercial tank, which must be removed by January, 1999. For information call DEQ.
