Bob Dole may not be per fect, (few of us are) but morally, patriotically and with in te g rity he tow e rs m iles above Bill Clinton. In his war Dole showed his personal courage on the battlefield. In his “War”, Clinton showed his cowardice by fleeing to Eu rope. While there he worked forthright letter to the home- owners association. Remember against his own nation’s mili tary while fifty-eight thousand brave Americans died in his place. Bill Clinton is a member of the C.F.R. an enemy of the sovereignty of our nation and to its constitution. Nine of his cabinet and post cabinet post (sic) are headed by C.F.R. members as well. Such un constitutional things as the U.N. M em orial services w ere held Aug. 12, at Fuiten-Rose Chapel in Vernon ia , w ith P a s to r DJ D ic k e y o f th e Grace Reform ed Baptist Church in Vernonia, officiating. Private in te r ment was held. Mr. W endling was bom January 16, 1919, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Clarence and Bessy (Orr) Wendling. He was raised and educated in Cali fornia until the age o f 13, when he moved to Oregon with his sister. He joined the U.S. Army in 1940 as a sargeant. In May of 1942 he was captured by the Japanese, in terned in the Phillipines and later in Oeyama, Japan. He was released in Septem ber, 1945. In 1956 he w as se n t to K orea, and to V ietnam in 1965. He was a Command Sergeant M ajor at the time o f his discharge, July 31, 1969. Mr. W endling m arried Mary “Ha- zle” Thom in 1946, in Cottage Grove. They live d in C o tta g e G rove until 1951, when they moved to Monterey, Calif. They later lived in Hawaii until 1 9 56, w hen th e y s e ttle d in La Grande. They moved to Vernonia in 1970. He was a lifetime member of the POW/V.F.W. club, and the Vernonia Golf Club. Mr. W endling w as preceded in death by a son, Cecil James Eddy. Survivors include his wife; son, A pology extended To the city of Vernonia: I would like to apologize to the following people in partic ular for my behavior August 2nd: Kathleen Richardson, Leslie and Kyle Thompson, Sam Mailer, the lady who was speaking to Kathleen, Pat Knight, and the fam ilies of those people involved.
