It was a tremendous effort and an unbelievable fu lfill ment on their part and the many friends who came to help. The Atchleys lost, not only the restaurant, but their home as well, and struggled for m onths...getting little o r no help from FEMA or insurance. Finally, after long, drawn-out negotiations, they secured a loan from the Small Business Administration to help them rebuild. The pain for the Atchleys and many others in the com munity is not over and the im pact of the flood will be with them all for years to come. Nevertheless, Gloria’s Spar Tree Restaurant is together again - completely redone - with new wiring, plumbing, w alls, floors, counter and kitchen. One fixture hasn’t changed, however: the inlaid rock tables are back in place, fascinating people with their infinite designs. Beside that, Gloria and her staff are sm il ing, waiting to resume the high quality of food and ser vice that has been their hall mark for years. Loft to right, Gloria Atchley, Bobby Jo Harmon, Barb McKedy and Willie Brewer are ready to serve you.
