Barker has held every posi tion in the Vernonia branch in her 12-year tenure, beginning in 1983. Jim Winczewski was then the manager. She then worked with manager Patricia Ray (now Wilhelm), followed by Betts Enneberg and, final ly, this past year with Carol Noah. “ I’m really excited about the opportunity," she said, “It’s not as though I’m new; I know everyone in the bank and most of the people in the community and there will be no staff changes.” “ S till, it w ill be a real growth experience for me.” she continued. “I’m not ner vous because I have great re sources available to me with in the system, so I can deal with any situation that might arise,” she added. Barker and her husband, Lyle, have two grown c h il dren, a m arried daughter, Carlene, and son Steve, who will marry on July 15. During the past year, while Noah has served as manag er-trainer fo r Barker in the V ernonia branch, she has also serve d as m an ag er- trainer for Barbara Colson in the Banks branch. John Williams takes control of Vernonia Auto Parts operations Joe Thornton John W illiams took over as manager of Vernonia Auto Parts on June 30, after for mer manager Joe Thornton left to return to school. Thorn ton, who had brought the store from a casual, small town operation to an efficient, well-stocked business, had managed the store for eight years. But Williams is no stranger to the Vernonia store where, fo r the past four years, he has been a part of the profes sio n a l m anagem ent team , John getting to know the clientele in Elgin, the other in Baker and their needs. The last eight of those years she has worked in new accounts, rising to supervisor, be fo re tra n s fe rrin g to the manager’s position in Banks. Colson previously lived in Roy, but is now settled into her B anks hom e w ith he r husband, Richard, and two children who attend Banks schools. She is well on the way to in volvem en t in the community as treasurer of the Banks Area Merchants Asso ciation. She says the rapid rate of change in the commu nity makes it a very exciting time to be involved. Meanwhile, Noah is neither here, nor there; she is now at work in a new position at US Bank P laza, in P o rtla n d , where she will head a new service department, providing 24 hour service to com m er cial accounts. In that capacity she will supervise a staff of 80 employees. “I have enjoyed working in Banks and Vernonia,” Noah said, “I have had the opportu nity to meet many nice peo ple in both cities. “ I have also enjoyed the ride from Banks to Vernonia.
