VOTE REMINDER All ballots on the recall election of Columbia County Commissioner Bruce Hugo must be in the county elec tions departm ent no la te r than 8:00 p.m., July 11,1995, whether they are mailed or hand delivered. No ballots will be accept ed after that tim e, even if they are postm arked w ith an earlier date. The elec tions department is located on th e m ain flo o r o f th e Courthouse in St. Helens V o i. 10, N o . 12 Fourth of July parade, fireworks, more All children of the commu nity (residents and visitors) are invited to participate in Vernonia’s 4th of July Parade. Theme for the parade will be the tra d itio n a l “ Red, W hite and Blue". Each child partici pating will receive a sm all American flag and a special button with the child’s name on it. The parade will be led by Uncle Sam and a Boy Scout C olor Guard, along Bridge S tre e t from W eed Ave. to Vernonia High School. It will conclude at the high school grandstand for judging. There will be prizes for the Most Pa triotic entry, Most Unique and Best Decorated Vehicle (no motors, please). Participants are to meet at Bridge and Weed at 6:00 p.m. The parade starts at 6:30 p.m. After the judging is com pleted, an evening of games will begin. Food may be pur chased from the Booster con ce ssio n wagon and VHS cheerleaders. Music will start about 8:30 p.m. and the fire works at dusk. Donations are still needed to help with the cost of the fireworks. They may be sent to Fireworks Fund, c/o Car olyn Keasey (14426 Keasey Road, V e rnonia 97 06 4), dropped in donation jars at businesses in town or given to Vernonia Pride members the evening of the 4th.
