District 7 includes Clat sop, Columbia and Tillamook counties. This contest is open to youth and adults. Al, those entering the com petition must select, construct and model the garment them selves. Machine or hand-knit ted, woven, crocheted gar ments are acceptable. All en tries must be made from a minimum of 60% woo, fabrics or yams. To be eligible, a gar ment must have been com pleted after January 1,1994. The “Make It Yourself with Wool” contest is sponsored by the Am erican Sheep In dustry Association. The junior, senior and adult win ners in the district contest will advance to the state contest, December 3, in Hood River. State w inners in the ju n io r and senior divisions will ad vance to National com peti tion. P re-entry is required by October 14, two weeks prior to the district cocnpetition on Saturday, October 29. Entry forms and complete rules are available at the OSU Exten sion office in each county, many fabric stores and from Home Economics teachers in the public schools. Show open for arts and crafts Artists and crafters are in vited to exhibit their work in the annual Friendship Jam boree Arts & C rafts Show, Aug. 5, 6 & 7, in the former Masonic Hall, 847 Jefferson, Vernonia. Works will be ac cepted Aug. 2 from 1-6 p.m. Works will be on display Aug. 5-6, from Noon to 7 p.m. and Noon to 5 p.m. on Aug. 7. A c c e p ta b le w orks are paintings and drawings in all media (must be framed and ready to hang); sculpture ; handcrafted basketry, jewelry, w ooden item s; w e a vin g ; wearable art; pottery or ce ramics; tole or other decora tive items; photography; other art or handcrafted item. There will be a special divi sion for children and youth, through age 18, and a retro spective division for works previously displayed.
