• . ; •? GEORGE E. KING G eorge E. King, 7 1 , B aker City, died July 7 , 1994, at St. E lizabeth H o s p ita l in B a k e r C ity. S e rv ic e s were held July 12, at the Baker City Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Jerry McConnell officiating. G ra ve side services will be held Thursday July 14, a t 11:00 a .m . in V ernonia Memorial Cemetery in Vernonia. Mr, King was bom April 9, 1923, In Corvallis, to Henry and Blanche King. At the age of two, he and his family moved to Vernonia, where he was raised and educated. After high school he a tte n d e d O re g o n S ta te University in Corvallis. In 1946 he married Tharis Robert son in Vernonia w h ere they m ade their home. He then began a career in electric utility cooperatives. After m oving to C o rvallis he w orked for Consumers Power for fifteen years. Mr. King later b ecam e m anager for Clearwater Power in Lewiston, Idaho. After his retirement, he took a job in 1989 as m a n ag er with the O regon Trail Electric Co-op in Baker City. Mr. King was a past master of the Corvallis Masonic Lodge, a member of the Scottish Rite and the Shrine. He served as president of the Clark ston Golf Club and was past presi dent of the Lewiston, Idaho, C h am ber of Commerce. Survivors in addition to his wife, include two cousins in Bend. She had lived in Banks all her life and was a m em ber of the First Chris tian Church in Forest Grove. Mr. M orrison w as bom Nov 22, 1914 in Sterling, Idaho, to Asa F. and- F ra n k ie B ryan M o rris o n . H e w as raised and educated in Sterling and Aberdeen, Idaho. H e s e rv e d in th e U .S . M a rin e Corps during World W ar II. H e married Stella Cuddy in 1943 in Lewiston, Idaho. T h ey m oved to Oakridge in 1953 and to Hillsboro in 1962. Mrs. Morrison died in 1988. Mr. Morrison owned and operated BMI Construction Co. from 1965 to 1984. Survivors include his son, Jim of Vernonia; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held July 6 at Bronleewe-Bass F u n eral H om e C h ap e l in Hillsboro with Pastor Tom Harris of Cornelius C om m unity Baptist Church officiat ing. Interment was in Skyline Memo rial Gardens, Portland. Mr. M c C a in w as born July 17, 1913, in Crofton, Neb., to James W. and Penny Kruse M cCain. He was raised and educated in Crofton. He moved to Ontario in 1936 and m a rrie d M a ry W a y n e in 1 9 3 7 , in Payette, Idaho. In 1938, they moved to Hillsboro, where he worked for a cold storage warehouse. During World W ar II, Mr. McCain worked as a leadm an and in boiler assembly in the Portland shipyards. A fte r the war, h e o p e ra te d h e a v y equipment, building roads and dams. H e re tire d in 197 1 a n d th e y m oved to Salem , where he was ac tive w ith the S o jo u rn e r's group at Grace Baptist Church. He also volun teered at the Senior Center in Salem for 14 years. In 1991 th e y m o v ed to F o re s t Grove and he becam e a m em ber of th e C o rn e liu s C o m m u n ity B ap tist Church. Survivors in addition to his wife, in c lu d e a son, Jim of B anks; five grandchildren; five great-grandchil dren; a brother, Harvey of Croffton, Neb.; two sisters, Ruby Miller of C as tro Valley, Calif., and Ruth Bunje of Garden Grove, Calif.; several nieces and nephews. H e attended Law rence Ele- mentary School and Com m erce High School and was a captain in the first Shrine football g am e in Portland in 1948. H e w as m a n a g e r of the Liberty Theater, then w orked for A m erican Building M ain ten a n ce in sales and becam e vice president and regional manager. He retired in 1991 after 38 years. In 1964, he won the Pacific North west Doubles Handball Tournament w hile rep resen tin g the M ultn o m ah Athletic Club.
