The tournament is sponsored by the Vernonia unit of ACS. The tournament format, 4 person scramble, has six divi sions by handicap. An entry fee of $40 per player includes a continental breakfast, green fees, num erous prizes and awards, plus a banquet lun cheon following play. Winners of this local quali fying tournament will be eligi ble to play at the ACS state tournament at Eagles Crest resort in Bend, in September. For th e past th re e yea rs, team s from Vernonia have a d van ced to th e n a tio n a l championship in Florida, rep resenting the State of Ore gon. Local team members re fer to it as “An experience of a lifetime!” The annual Benefit Golf Tournament will continue to raise funds for the Oregon Di vision or the American Can cer Society; each year the so ciety has given back to our com m u nity m ore tha n we give, in public education, pa tient services and cancer re search, Fulmer said. You are invited to partici pate in th is gre a t cau se. Whether you are a golfer or not, there are avenues for you to co n trib u te .
