Medical Assistant completes full staffing at local Health Center With the addition of Medi cal A ssistant Iris Bonfiglio, the Vernonia Health Center is now fully staffed and is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Bonfiglio, who transferred to VHC from Tuality’s Hills boro hospital, is qualified to do everything that Physician’s Assistant Laura Nichols does except prescribe medications. Because of her work at Tuali- ty, Bonfiglio already has many patients from this area and is happy th a t she can now serve them without them hav ing to drive to Hillsboro. “The people are wonderful here,” Bonfiglio said enthusi astically, “and I want them to know that I can take care of seven years ago, she worked at P ro v id e n c e H o s p ita l in Portland for five years. Working in Vernonia is es pecially nice for Bonfiglio be cause she and her husband, Ronald, have lived in Vernon ia for 13 years. She says she is still adjusting to her lack of a commute. Part of Rogers’ property is inside the city limits and part of it is outside both the city limits and the Urban Growth Boundary. The city has ap plied for an adjustment in the Urban Growth Boundary to allow development of the en tire property. Rogers’ property was for m erly th e s ite of Eddie Miller’s cedar mill. Two summer fund raisers are underway for the Better Banks Committee. The second annual Coun try Farmers Market opened June 4 in the parking lot at Oak Village Shopping Center. It will operate every Saturday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. through Octo ber. F arm ers M arket v e n d o r spaces are available at $10 per space, per day. Proceeds from both events w ill go to the Better Banks Com m unity Project to help provide additional flowers and trees for the downtown area, markers for historic homes, signs and landscaping for the entrances to town and com m unity C h ristm a s d e c o ra tions. Community members are invited to suggest other civic projects they would like to see considered.
