May 5. during Bicycle Week Participants may gather in W ashington Grade School parking lot tor the starting time ot 2 p m or meet the riders a, Vernonia Lake park ing lot at 2 30 p m All participants must sign waivers, said organizers Bob Ragsdale and Schann Nel son Minors must have the waivers signed by their par ents or guardians Helmets are suggested tor all riders On May 10 Ragsdale and Nelson, with the assistance ot Pat Hall. Police Chiet Phil Jacobus and Oregon Bicycle Sal et y C o o rd in a to r Walt McAllister will present a spe cial assembly at Washington Grade School about bicycle rules and regulations The presentation will in clude a description ot a sate bike, how and why to license a bike, the rules ot the road Oregon dunng 1988, and 60 67% ot the state's bike acci dents involve head injuries A Seattle study indicated that and why it's important to tol low them Films about bike riding will be shown at the Community Health & Fitness Fair.
