MARX Seaside Signal An armless dummy strapped onto a rolling table by Seaside volunteer fi re- fi ghters Rick Plummer and Katie Bulletset held the stage of the Monday, Sept. 9, City Council meeting. Div. Chief Dave Rankin introduced the department’s newest tool, the Lucas Mechanical CPR Device. “We want to show you what this device is capable of.” Promptly, Plummer, a paramedic fi refi ghter volun- teer, and Bulletset went to work, strapping the motion- less dummy in, unpack- ing the device, booting up and applying suction cups over the center of the chest. Sept. 10 8:09 a.m., Lewis and Clark Non-injury bus crash in Manzanita; driver could face multiple charges Oregon State Police and emergency personnel responded to a non-injury bus crash Monday morning on U.S. Highway 101 in Manzanita. The bus was occu- pied by 46 Army National Guard members from the HHC 1-186 IN from Medford. The preliminary investigation revealed the bus had departed from Camp Rilea and was en route to Port- land. The driver, Kenneth Alexander, 44, from Vancou- ver, Washington, missed the turn onto U.S. Highway 26 outside of Seaside. The driver assured the passengers he knew the route to Portland and continued southbound on U.S. High- way 101. The passengers grew concerned over the driver using his cell phone and showing signs of impairment before the bus crashed into the sidewalk. The Tillamook County District Attorney’s offi ce will review the case for charges of driving under the infl uence and 46 counts of reckless endangering against the driver. 8:20 a.m., Avenue A: Used needles are reported.
