One of tha first groups to eh oo a a winners was tha Olrl Seoul who had their contest In connection with tha father-daughter ban quet, Friday, March the fourteenth at tha armory. Mrs. H. A. Organisations talc Ing part will be: Bonanta Ex tension unit. Beef club, PTA, Dairy Extension unit, Lapa netsla Study club, Poa Val ley Extension unit. At Bly under the guidance of Mrs. Fred Stone and Mra. Karl Deerlng. acting as co-chairmen, tha following groups will compete: 4-H club. Church group, Bly Women's club, and tha Music and Dra ma group. At Altamont, with Mrs. Stella Bowne as chair man these groups will present skits at community meet ing: Altamont Cookery 4-H club, Shasta Khool, Shasta PTA, Shasta-Homedala Ex tension unit, Altamont Exten sion unit, Shasta grange, Al tamont Junior high school 4-H leaders. At Chlloquln surrounding communltlca will present a program from tha following groups: Fort Klamath grange. Crystal school. Chlloquln 4-H club leaders, Modoc Point Ex tension unit. High School Dra matic club, Civic Improve ment club. Mrs. Donald Brookman la acting aa chair man. At Merrill. Mra. Ray Oehl erich, acting aa chairman, la arranging a community pro gram for tha following groups: Camp Fire Girls, Key stone club, Merrill Extension unit, Merrill 4-H leaders. Ma tin grange, Malln high school. Mrs. Earl Mack la chairman for the Midland-Henley pro gram when the YCA, Henley-Midland Extension unit. Midland grange, and the Hen ley 4-H leaders will compete. At Pelican City tha elimina tion programs will be held Monday, March tha seven teenth, at tha Pelican school. Organlxatlona taking part will be the Pelican PTA, 4-H dubs. Pelican A 1 g o m a Extension unit Mrs. Hal Ogle of Weyer haeuser will have charge of the program whan skits by tha PTA and tha school will compete to represent Weyer haeuser camp. Eight groups of Camp Fire Glrla under the leadership of Mra. Marguerite Grove will have an elimination contest to determine which troop will appear In the county festival. Mra. Carl Crubb will be In charge of the program at which several Klamath Falls groups will compete. These Include: Lodges Amaranth, Royal Neighbors, Degree of Honor, Rebekah. PTA Fre mont and Joseph Conger. Churches Catholic Daught ers, Wesleyan Guild, and tha Business and Professional Women's club. All elimination contests must be finished by March the twenty-eighth. Judges of the local programs will choose tha skits and tha organiza tion which will appear at tha county-wide festival. Some special dance num bers are being planned by apeclal folk dance groups. These features promise to add much to the Interest in the program. CO-HOSTESSES AT SHOWER FOR MISS STENSON Honoring Miss Dorothy Stenson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Simmers of Keno, bride-elect of Mr. Everett Hoover, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Hoover of Klamath Falls, a bridal shower waa given at the home of Mrs. Russell McCollum, 2050 Gary street, with Mrs. Simmers aa co-hostess. Daffodils and pussywillows added a springlike note to tha rooms. Pinochle provided the ente-talnment with high score going to Mrs. Walter Patten and low to Mrs. Harold Mc Collum. Table docoratlona for tha refreshment hour were carried out In the St. Patrick's motif. Those Invited were Mrs. Guy Moore, Mrs. Harold Sim mers, Mrs. Edna Penny, Mrs. Walter Pntton, Mrs. Harry Marion and Mrs. Bernlce Tay lor of Keno, Mrs. E. A. Mrs. Jack Perkins, Mrs. Maude Hoover, Miss Esther Rece, Mrs. Paul Hoover, Mrs. Ches ter Hoover and Mrs. Henry Warner, Venturists Study Town Industry Claims Atten tion of Club's Pro gram Meeting Following up their program of "Know Your Town," Ven tura club members mat In the gold room at the Willard hotel on the evening of March tha fourth, devoting the evening to a program on Industry and workera In Klamath Falls. Emma Howard gave Inter esting Information on tha preparation offered young peo ple by the high schools of tha county, whose curriculum includes all tha commercial subjects. Another service of fered by tha high schools Is help In securing Jobs, al though they do not have a regular employment service. Miss Howard stated that tha local chamber of commerce Is helpful by offering work to graduate students for an oc casional week. Miss Peggy Johnson's sub ject covered tha state limita tions on working hours for men and women and the pro visions for proper ventilation, lighting, and other working conditions. She also explained safety devices required by law and tha provisions for check ing by commissioners. The subject of factories and mills waa handled by Dorothy Teed, who reported that these ara alt well built and well lighted and have bean guarded against serious Urea. She spoke with praise of the recreational act ivities offered but noted that tha majority of workera local ly do not have paid vacations, due to tha seasonal employ ment In thla community. Tha Workman's Compensa tion law waa the subject of Dora Cameron's report, who gave tha Interesting Informa tion that slnoa the law came Into affect in 1013 benefit amounting to $80,000,000.00 have been paid for loss of time and life. Miss Cameron stated that maximum benefits for married man la $87.00 and for a single man 155.00. In her Investigations Miss Cameron found that. In gen eral, relationship between em ployers and employes Is good, but that occurrence of recent strikes indicates soma dissatis faction. Questions regarding local occupations, methods of Job hunting, and tha Wagner-Peyser act were answered by Dora Foster under her topic. Presiding at the meeting was President Margaret West, with Dorothy Teed. Emma Howard, Dora Cameron, Peg gy Johnson, Eleanor Prultt, and Dora Foster attending. Venturists are looking for ward with considerable antici pation to their next meeting, which will be a dinner at the Rose Poole residence on Con ger avenue with Mrs. Rose Poole and Mrs. Ruth Ray aa hostesses. THIMBLE CLUB MEETS AT HOME OF MRS. HEWITT The Thimble club. Neigh bors of Woodcraft, met Tues day afternoon, March the eleventh, at the home of Mrs. Bertha Hewitt on Darrow ave nue with Mrs. Meredith Erell as co-hostess. Business Women To Sponsor Kibitzer Sam Gordon of Portland To Give Series of Lec tures in Klamath Falls in Willard Hotel Sam Gordon, the Kibitzer, who revolutionized bridge play ing around Klamath Falls tables and whose system has been followed by hundreds of women since his visit here last year, will be in this city again for a three-day contract bridge lec ture and lesson series on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, March the thirty-first, and April the first and second. Tha lectures will be given at the Willard hotel. , Mr. Gordon Is being spon sored this year by the Busi ness and Professional Wom en's club and members are conducting an advance sale of ticket. Subjects to be cov ered each afternoon and eve ning of tha same day will be the same, according to word received from Mr. Gordon. In this manner, the holder of a aeries ticket receives the com plete course by attending either the night or afternoon sessions, with privilege of re view by attending both. Mr. Gordon la the contract bridge pioneer of the north west as lecturer, newspaper columnist, radio and class teacher. He is author of the "Horse Sense" method, a sim plified and easy-to-leam treat ment of the game of bridge. Merry Mixer Entertained The Merry Mixers club met Thursday evening at tha home of Mrs. Albert Allen, 2481 Orchard way. Cards were in play with awards received by Mrs. Carsey, high, and Mrs. McUne, low. Marshmallows and wein ers were roasted In the fireplace during the re freshment hour. Those present were Mrs. Jo cille Elliott, Mrs. Pearl Paup. Mrs. Lynn McUne, Mrs. Mary Breesee, Mrs. Dee Salyer, Mrs. Elinor Curtis, Mrs. Marian Carsey and Mrs. Lizzie Little, guests. Formal Initiation of six new members of the Bonanza lodge was conducted by Pros perity Rebekah lodge 104 at the March the sixth meeting held in the IOOF hall in Klamath Falls, which was at tended by a large crowd. A banquet was served at the close of the evening.
