Leahy of Las Vegas. . following a long, bitter political - strangle In which the editor led the attack against the Judge in his cam' i paign (or re-election. The contempt ; case grew out of editorials written . by Magee as well as speeches deliv ered in Leahy's courtroom. The sentence on the three charges was ninety days In Jail. Governor Hinkle immediately pardoned the editor, but the pardon was Ignored by the sheriff of San Miguel coun . ty. who contended that the governor had no authority in the case.
