Too Big Nor rrosp.-rotis The Klamath News has called attention, from time to time, to the tricks of misrepre sentation that have been used to keep our peo ple from giving fair consideration to the issues involved in the railroad hearing now on in Portland. The factory where this smoke screen is made and whence it is puffed out every after noon, is unimportant. IT IS IMPORTANT, HOWEVER, THAT, KLAMATH FALLS GET MAIN LINE SERVICE TO THE EAST, and as getting it depends to a large extent on ourselves the News purposes to do all it can to bring about an understanding of the situation. That is why we are willing to take the time to brush even crumbs out of the way. As it was said yesterday in this column, the Southern Pacific program is essentially a Klamath Falls program. Don't let anybody mislead you. FIGURE IT OUT FOR YOUR SELF. 1 With the main line to the East through Tule Lake, Klamath Falls will be in the best position cf any city in Oregon to reach the ..Pe?,markets m tne world and to make a cam pa'gn for the right kind of settlers. A fund of $250,000 has been raised to advertise Oregon to the world, for the promo tion of new markets and to secure settlers for our lands. The Southern Pacific Company plans an expenditure of $38,000,000 to make Oregon a better place to be a farmer in, to do business, to live in. And the most important part of this vast railroad development plan centers around Klamath Falls. From Klamath Falls, if the Southern Pacific plan goes through, will radiate, lines north, south and east and the east line will be 200 miles shorter than that offered by the Oregon Trunk. The other railroad development offered, by the Southern Pacific will open to settlers and production a rich territory all tributory to Klamath Falls. At the same time it will pro vide the best and shortest way for the products of this awakened empire to the best and big gest markets in the world. It will make Klam ath Falls "The Hub of Prosperity." Sure, the News is going to speak up when anything comes along to interfere with a program like that! Klamath Falls can never get too big nor too prosperous for the News. Ninetecn-inch trouscr bottoms will be the limit 8av the clothier.,. They arc-Terro Haute Star. There were about fifty miners present when he la gan; but when at the end of a couple of hours he save no sign of finishing, his listener.! dropped away. Some went back to work, hut the big majority sought places to quench their thirst, which hu, been aggravated by the dryness of the discourse. Finally there was only one aud itor left, n dilapidated, we.iry looklng old fellow. Fixing his gaze on him, the orator pulled out a large six-shooter and laid It l table. The fellow rose slowly and drawkd out: "Be ye goin- to shoot if I ,-?" "Vou bet I am." replied , j speaker. "I'm bound to finish my speech, even If I have to shoot t keep an audience."
