Follow. ing dinner the women adjourned to the recreation hall to conduct the regular meeting. Luella Bonham won the spe cial prize and Lucile Gray re ceived a birthday gift. Recorder Leta Stolt read a request that the Merrill Chapter be hosts for the mid-winter conference on Jan. 26. After some discussion the chaper de cided to accept the host assign ment. After the meeting, members exchanged Christmas gifts. More planning for the con ference will be done at the next regular meeting on Jan. 7. Both are senior students at University of Oregon. The future bride, enrolled in the Honors College, was recently elected to Phi Beta Kappa, national scholas tic honorary society. She also is president of Delta Zeta sorority at the university. Her fiance is a political science maior and is affiliated with Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. TttLWA Nancy Chilwood and Fred Ol son are among 48 students com prising the Lewis and Clark Col lege Concert Band on its sec ond annual tour beginning Jan. 5. The 10-day tour will take the group o eight communities in Washington and Idaho. Nancy is a member of (he f Kile section and 'red is a clarinetist. Charlton Currin is one of 50 singers making up the Univer sity Singers at University of Oregon. This g r o u p, chosen from the larger choral organi zations at the university, makes frequent concert appearances. Donald ilsensee is one of 27 Pacific Lutheran University se niors who have been named o "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Col leges." We is majoring in busi ness administration. Colo. 4 STOREWIDE GOING Pair Recite Nuptial Vows ALTURAS Linda Stewart and Gary Gooch were united in marriage by a double ring cere mony Saturday, Nov. 30, at the Fort Bidwell Community Church. The Rev. Floyd Bailey officiated. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Stewart, of Ccdarville, Calif., and the bride groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Gooch of Vya, Nev. For her wedding, the bride chose a bell shaped, floor length gnwn of satin brocade with three quarter length sleeves. With this she wore a waist length veil belonging to Sally Ayers Curtin, a cameo neck lace which her father brought home from Italy after the war, and a handkerchief given her by her grandmother. The lucky sixpence was furnished by Judy Davis Hcin. She carried a bou quet of white carnations and baby pink rosebuds. The bridesmaids, Lorna and Ituth Stewart, wore blue velvet street length dresses and tiaras. Their bouquets were pink car nations. Janeil Stewart, flower girl for her sister, wore a blue velvet junier dress. ' Robert Gooch served as best man for his brother, and John Hussa, cousin of the bride groom, was usher. Organ music was played by Grace Sweeney. The bride's mother was at tired in a royal blue wool dress with brown accessories and an orchid corsage. The bride groom's mother wore a red suit with black accessories and a gold orchid. A reception followed at the Civic Club rooms. Ellen Dollar hide made the beautiful cake which was served by Caroline and Burling Bowne. The punch was made by Edna Fee and ENGAGED Mr. and Mrs. Gerald D. Gifts were opened by Barbara Christensen, Katherine Hussa and Lavette Hussa. Marian Gooch had charge of the guest book and the background music was played by Myra Flournoy on her marimba. The bride wore a three-piece white suit with red accessories and a corsage of the same col ors for her going-away ensem ble. The recent ceremony took place in Denver and the young newlyweds are residing in Cheyenne, Wyo., where he is employed by United States Steel Corporation. New Pine Creek Holiday Parties NEW PIN"E CREEK - New Pine Creek, although a small community, had its share of holiday social activities. On Tuesday, Dec. 17, the Happy Hour Club had its Christmas party in (he Grange Hall. Ear lier, members decorated a tree brought in by Carroll Cloud and Claude iNewcombe. About 45 attended the party and enjoyed a comical style show and later an exchange of gifts. ' On Wednesday, Dec. 18, the Home Economics Club held their special Christmas dinner and exchange of gifts among se cret pals. Dinner was followed by pinochle and visiting. The Goose Lake Sportsmen had their Christmas party and gift exchange on Thursday night, Dec. 19. During a regular busi ness meeting later, plans were made for the New Year's Eve dance at the Grange Hall. Friday night, Dec. 20, brought the annual Willow Ranch School Yule program. Santa Claus was present to pass out candy and nuts to the children.
