Yet And Snowy Weather Reduces Threat Of Beetle PORTLAND IUPII - The Douglas fir bark beetle will not pos as big a threat next year if present wet. snowy weather continues, the Oregon and Cali fornia Land Grand Advisory Board was told Monday. Of this amount, 926.544.000 board feet represented salvage sales valued at 2.4 million, Kely said. The board called for more ap propriations for public land sur veys and Increased emphasis on land exchanges. It heard from Charles H. Stoddard. BLM director, of plans to adopt the so-called "ranger district system of pub lic land management, similar to the type used by other land management agencies such as the Forest and National Parks services. The plan will be drawn up by April and subject to re view and approval by the O&C group as oil as the BLM Na tional Advisory Board Council. Lake County Filings Start LAKEVIEW The first filing for county office for nomination in May primaries was noted Friday, Dec. 13, when Neil Friday entered his name in the office of the county clerk as candidate for sheriff. Friday is a Republican. The job is now held by Donald Woodruff, and Friday is a deputy. Positions open in Lake Coun ty during the coming year are county judge, county clerk, county treasurer, and one coun ty commissioner.
