Gary, son of Mr. and Mrs. O. H. Wishart, 403 Alameda, was traveling up the mountain toward Swan Lake, over the ridge when he found this brass nameplate bearing the inscription, "The Baldwin Locomotive Works, Philadel phia, 42102, USA, May, 1915." It lay near an abandoned, torn up railroad track, built in the days when lumbering was king in the Klamath country. Czech Teacher Writes Kennedy Condolences By ItUTIl KING An expression of sympathy followng Hie death of President John F. Kennedy, has been re ceived from a resident of a Rus sian satcllile country, Czecho slovakia, by Jlr. and Mrs. Frank Payer Jr. of Malin. The writer was a teacher, Helen Lindhartova, who has corresponded with Mrs. Paygr since the Malin couple was in Europe in HH8. She was on their plane to London where she was going to attend a sum mer session to study English, to permit her to teach the lan guage In her own country. Boardman Documents Are Signed SALEM L'PI Documents transferring t h e proposed Boardman Space Age Industrial Park to the State Veterans Agency, and ratifying every phase of the project's develop ment were signed at a seven minute special meeting of tlie State Land Board Wednesday. Gov. Mark Hatfield and Trea surer Howard Bclton signed the special resolution "ratifying and confirming a recapitulation of tlie particular negotiations, pur chases, sales, translers and ex changes of land and property which were made in the course of acquiring and creating" the 100,0110-acre project in northeast ern Oregon. Secretary of Stale Howell Ap pling Jr., who was not at tlie meeting because he attended funeral, submitted a letter indi cating he approved tlie ratifica tion agreement, and would sign it later. Today's action by tlie Land Board apparently duplicates leg islative action which ratified transactions made to create the park which has been leased to Boeing Co. of Seattle. It was announced transfer of tide of 48.000 acres of Navy bombing range property the final block of property involved in creating the park is expect ed to take place later this week. H. C. Saalfcld, director of tlie State Veterans Affairs Depart ment, said he received a copy of the deed from the Navy Tuesday. Saalfcld is holding a $322,000 check for purchase of the land until Navy officials formally sign (lie deed. Jfesaid " Ihope Me can get it signed this week. I've looked tlie deed over, and it seems all right." Ownership of the proposed 100.000-acre industrial site was transferred to tlie Veterans Al tai Department by tlie special session of tlie legislature. Attorneys for Boeing Co., which has signed a $4.6 million, 77-year lease for tlie properly but which has not yet activated its lease have asked for details of every transaction involved in the state's purchase and ex change of lands for the project.
