The maximum NDEA loan to a student is $1,000 each year. The average is $600 at Oregon Tech. Maestro Brooks Custer's Ore gon Tech band and Choir Lead er Jean Underwood's singers will present a Christmas as sembly next Friday in the cam pus theater. The program will feature vocal and instrumental solos, duets, quartets, and full group presentations besides stu dent body group singing. The students do not seem to be suc ceeding in getting dean of stu dents, Jack Churchill, to act as Santa Claus. Dean of Women Carol Foster's rally squad is polishing the rou tines for the basketball season that will get into full swing aft er the Christmas vacation. The rally squad receives one ex pense paid weekend trip which will be at Portland State College tltis year on Jan. 10 and the two evening trips to Southern Oregon College at Ash land. Earl Kurtz and Gene Culver, advisers to the Ski Club, are patiently but eagerly awaiting the kind of weather that will get the club in action. Oregon Tech has had a short ski tow on campus for more years than there has been enough snow to use it, but its first participation in the sport with other colleges was at last year's Skicsta at the Shasta Bowl. Gene Stivers and L c r o y Fisk, advisers to the Kappa Chi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the national honorary society, had their hands full last night at the organization's school car nival held in Cornelt flail. Most of the group's activities are more strenuous mentally than last night's physical activities and feats of competition, the advisers said. Jack Lyon, director of resi dence halls, also has responsi bility for the Owlcr, the an nual yearbook, and KTEC, tlie FM radio station on campus and the theater which is managed by the same group of students. A full-length movie is present ed in the campus theater each Sunday evenin. Professor Bob Baird's "Am ateur Radio Club" and Profes sor Don Oricll's IEEE (Insti tue of Electrical and Electron ic Engineers) student organiza tions keep the pair in the elec tronics field while they're out of electronics classes.
