Klamath Falls, Oregon Thursday, December S, 1 Brazil Senators Duel, Colleague Killed Court Picks Attorney For Naylor TULELAKE - The prelim inary hearing in the Modoc County Justice Court of the AI tusas Judicial District, sclied-' uled for Dec. 4, for John G. Naylor of Newell, has been post poned until Thursday, Dec. 12. Naylor, 22, is held in the Mo doc County Jail at Alturas on six charges of child molestation and one of statutory rape al legedly involving two young girls, 11 and S years old. The hearing was postponed when Naylor, a resident of the Newell area for about five years, was unable to retain counsel. Attorney V. Dean Close, was appointed by the court to represent him. Naylor, the father of a l-ycar-old daughter, was arrested Nov. IB by Sheriff Deputy Marion Thompson on a complaint of the mother of one of the chil dren involved. District Attorney Robert Bar clay will prosecute. BRASILIA i UP! '-Two sena tors staged a frontier-style gun fight Wednesday on tlie floor of Brazil's streamlined upper house, fatally wounding a third legislator. Sens. Arnon De Melo and Sil veslre P. Cois Montero, the pistol-packing principals in the im promptu duel, escaped injury. Sen. Jose Cairalli was hit by a ,45-caliber slug and died in a hospital a short time later. Senate President Auro M. De Andrade adjourned the session and turned the two principals over to military authorities pending a decision on what ac tion to take against them. The Senate was expected to expel both men. The shooting climaxed a long time political feud between lMcIo and Gois. The two men drew guns on each other during a senate debate, but it was not clear just what it was that set them off. The shooting caused pande monium in the senate, and it was difficult to determine ex actly what happened.
