Austria's Chancellor Alfons t'orbach who saw Johnson for 15 minutes after the Kennedy funeral said "peace and f r e e dom" were in good hands. Switzerland's Foreign Minister F. T. Another who returned encour aged from Washington was Nor way's Prime Minister Einar Grrharriscn who said he found more insecurity in Euroie over the change in American leader ship than he did in the United Slates. Denmark's Prime Min ister Jens Olio Krag has not seen Johnson since he succeeded to the presidency but met him as vice president. He voiced his confidence in the new Chief Executive within hours of Ken nedy's murder. Living Cost Rises Again WASHINGTON iL'PH - Liv ing costs rose by a penny er $10 spent during October lo reach a new record in spile of a decline in overall prices for food, the government reported Kriday. A Labor Department spokes man said the consumer price in dex climbed one-tenth of one per cent from September lo 107.2 in October. This meant that goods and services which could be purchased (or $10 dur ing tlve 1!).)7-5H base period cost $10.72 during October. The spokesman said, however, the increase was "strictly sea sonal" and not an omen that a new inflationary trend was in the offing. The index for Octolwr was 1.1 per cent above a year ago, pri marily because of a raise of 2.1 per cent in the cost of services. Kood prices in October dropped one-half of one )er cent but were offset hy higher prices for most oilier goods and serv ices. As a result of the slight in crease in the October index about 42.000 workers will re ceive cost of living wage in creases under union contracts. Prcsidont Stilwell has es pressed the hope that attend ance at the meetings will be large and enthusiastic, and that through them, chamber mem bers w ill acquire a belter grasp of what the chamber of com merce is and what it does. With attendance anticipated at at least 300, lie has expressed confidence that the ideas and suggestions of this many busi ness, professional and govern mental leaders of Ihe area will provide the chamlier with an aggressive and forward-looking program of work which, when completed, will contribute greatly to the economic and so cial vitality of Klamath County.
