Papers Of Free World Praise John Kennedy By I'nrted Press IntemalionaJ Tlie newspapers of the free world joined in a single voice Saturday in mourn the death of President John F. Kennedy with black-bordered editorials calling him a champion of liberty. Tlie press in the Communist bloc nations also expressed sor row over the assassination. One Communist newspaper, the 1-on-don Daily Worker, mixed cri ticism with grief. It attacked Kennedy for "hatred of Cuba" and "inadequate" civil rights policies. Editorial comment included: London Daily Herald: "The Stalins of tlie world mostly die in their beds. It is the Lincoln: and the Kennedys who arc shot down. Rest in peace, John Ken nedy. You helped us much." TV Cable Offer Rejected DL'NS.MUIR An offer by the Dunsmuir Television Cable Company to take over the tele vision translator system operat ed by the Dunsmuir Key Club has been rejected, according to a statement by David Otis, Key Club attorney. John Burgess, owner of tlie cable company, olfered to drop litigation against the Key Club if the club relinquished t h e translator to him, Otis said. Burgess has maintained a ca ble reception system in Duns muir since 1955. Otis' statement, prepared for the board of directors of the Key Club, pointed out the club's responsibility to defend and protect television viewers from monopoly possibilities. The suit charges the club installed the translator in order to put the cable company out of busi ness and asks $49,500 in dam ages. The board of dircetois of the Key Club maintains the trans lator television reception in stalled by the Key Club in De cember of l'Jtil serves Mount Shasta, Dunsmuir, Castella, and Sacramento canyon and is no way comparable to the cable re ception system which serves Dunsmuir proper only. Television reception in Duns muir is supplied by cable to subscribers who paid an ini tial installation fee and contin ue to pay a monthly service rate. The translator reception service is a Key Club project, and installation costs were met by a public subscription cam paign. Translator maintenance costs are being met by volunta ry membership fees to the Key Club. Last summer the Key Club collected on the last 47 of its 690 support pledges through small claims court action.
