The bulls, which were put on pasture May 25, were weighed in far the last time Thursday morning. Tested And Rated Bulls Put On Sale By Modoc Committee At Cedarville ALTURAS Final weighing was mad j of the rate of gain bulls to be sold Sunday at Ce darville. The bulk were weighed Thursday morning by the Modoc Bull Sale Committee and Modoc County farm advisers. These bulls have been weighed once a month since being put on pasture at the Weber Broth ers' Parker Creek Ranch May 25. Farm adviser Cecil Pierce says the records show that these bulls have gained well over two pounds per day din ing the five month feeding period. Members of the bull sale com mittee emphasized that these bulls have been maintained on both a range and feed lot feed ing program and have been kept in top breeding condition. "They are in top range condition and can be turned out on range at any time. When you buy these bulls, you are not paying for surplus fat that must be done away wiln before the bull is in breeding shape." The bulls will be given a grade on conformation and in spected for soundness Saturday afternoon. The conformation committee is made up of Reu ben Albaugh, University of Cal ifornia livestock specialist from Davis; Sam Thurber, farm ad viser from McArthur; and Sur prise Valley rancher Bill Cock rell. Dr. John Wheat, University of California veterinarian, and John McArthur, rancher, will inspect the bulls for soundness. The bulls will be sold and rated before the sale on a basis of their conformation and the rate of gain from birth and during the time of the feed ing gain test. This inde. rating will be made available to the buyers before the sale Sunday. There will be a buffet din ner at the Cedarville Fair grounds Saturday evening and the annual pre-sale dance.
