Cottage Grove, Ore.; Father-In-Law Entitled To Spree By ANN LANDERS . Dear Ann lenders: Last Octo ber' my mother-in-law died of cancer. She was sick for five years and there were heavy med ical expenses. When she died my father-in-law announced that he didn't have cnoiiRh money to pay for the funeral. The four children felt it was their responsibility to help so we all-took out loans and have been paying on those loans ever since. Three months after his wife was buried my father-in-law bought a new car (there was nothing wrong with the car he bad). Last month he took a plea sure trip. Every one of the four children Is married and has his own lam ily obligations. Wc think it is wrong that we should be stuck with the funeral bill which, right fully, the husband of the de ceased should he paying. -.No one bas the courage to sny a' word In him and I am burned up. I wish you would print this letter in the paper and com ment.-KDITH Dear Edith: It's ikIiI that one mother ran raise four children, hut (hat four children can't bury one mother. Five years of cancer can be mighty expensive. It may well he that since your father-in-law Is free of those Irrrlhlp medical bills he has a Utile extra money around for the first time in ages. In my book you're way out of line. . .flpar Ann Landers: Maybe yon ill figure this Idler is too fool ish to print bul it is imporlanl to us kids, so please give it a second look. In the case of vour friend, and probably your mqthrr'g friend, loo. the lauehter mav not have anything to dn with humor. Once you understand this It makes "senseless" laughter easier to tolerate.
