Khrushchev gave Mrs. .Jacqueline Kennedy in 1961. : Sunday, the White House an nounced that Mrs. Kennedy had ',al random selected two letters from about 5,000 that had been ' f ent to her and the President ask ing for Pushinka's offspring. The father of the puppies is Charlie, a Welsh terrier and senior mem ber of the Kennedy kennel. Russian Secondary School Operates In New York - Free Of Politics By GERALD S. SNYDER NEW YORK UPI In an old gray mansion of New York's upper Park Avenue, a man in flowing black robes and long black beard picked up a copy of a text book published in Russia. "They (the Communists' mix politics in everything," he said. "In art. in history, in geography. everywhere it's possible and sometimes where it's impossible. "Here we are teaching with big impartiality!" The institution, called St. Ser- gius High School, is turning out bilingual American citizens with Kennedy's secretary. Boy's More Poignant Mark Bruce's letter was more poignant. "On June 8, 1 was playing base ball," the boy said in a letter of June 19 to Mrs. Kennedy. "1 was batting. Our dog Midget was behind me when I was swinging the bat and I accidentally hit her in the head. She died almost im mediately (sic)." Mark said lie was a 4-H Club member whose project was dog care, which meant he had to have a dog. He said a Pushinka pup could solve this problem for him. a fluent knowledge of the Russian language, history, geography and ancient Russian culture all free of politics. School officials in neither city have given any indication of what the plans will include. Birmingham, which several months ago was the scene of some of the South's most mas sive racial demonstrations to date, presently is desegregating some downtown facilities under an agreement between business man and Negro leaders. Mobile also has begun desegregating some downtown facilities. At White Sulphur Springs, V. Va., Alabama Gov. George Wal lace planned to introduce a pack age of anti-integration resolu tions at the Southern Governors Conference. In Chicago, a civil rights lead er charged his organization was "double-crossed" when Rep. Wil liam L. Dawson, D-IU., failed lo meet with his group as promised to discuss civil rights. Elsewhere in the city racial in cidents during the weekend were scattered, after two weeks of demonstrations in protest of mo bile school buildings in predom inately Negro neighborhoods. Chicago civil rights groups in sist mobile school buildings are designed to keep Negroes in Ne gro neighborhoods. Racial developments elsewhere: New York: Roy Wilkins, execu tive secretary of the National As sociation for the Advancement of rnlnrwl Pcoole (NAACP), said Sunday the civil rights organiza tion is "continuing" to fight laws against miscegenation. Wilkins said the NAACP "moved into that area some time ago. Washington: A While House- sponsored w o m e n's committee Sunday night announced a six Doint Drogram designed to let Ne gro children attend classes "w ith out fear" this la'.l at iu newiy desegregated schools in southern and border states. The committee reported that more schools arc desegregating for the first time this year than in the past seven years. FBI Reveals Bribery Try DAYTON, Ohio (UPI I - A New York electronics executive was arrested here Saturday and charged with attempting to bribe Air Korce personnel to obtain a 59.5 million government contract. The FBI said Morton Siegcl. 57. vice president of Loral Electron ics, Bronx, N. Y., was arrested as he was boarding a New York- bound plane at Dayton Municipal Airport. The FBI charged the bribery attempt occurred at Wright-Pat terson Air Force Base here. An FBI spokesman said Siegel was placed under surveillance when he arrived by plane from New York and was met by an unidentified government employe at the field. Now, the abbot is busy with plans for a school of higher learn ing. "The New York Russian and Slavic Institute" will start in the high school in September. "It's mostly for American youths wish ing to receive appropriate, quali fied and impartial instruction in the Slavic and Russian fields," he explained.
