AND MRS. CLYDE BARKS of Tulelake were in Nev ada .last week to visit with her brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Euel Dillard, at Eureka, and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Ol son and family at Orovada. The Dillards are former Klamath Falls residents and the Olsons are former Tulelake residents. ' BEATTY SYLVESTER HUNT'S Gull Service Station suffered a sec ond' fire July 3, and he has asked the state fire marshal's office to conduct an investiga tion. Mr. and Mrs. Cleve Hec octa discovered the fire and sum moned Hunt, who was able to extinguish the blaze. Damage was partially covered my insur ance. ELAINE MEYER left for the Forest Grove Camp at Canby, sponsored by the CMA, or a two-week vacation. She was ac companied by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. It. A. Meyer of the Weyerhaeuser Sycan Shops. MR. AND MRS. ROBERT HOWARD and family of Medford visited over the July 4 holidays with Mrs. Howard's mother, Mrs. Babe Heidenrcich, who owns the Chevron Service Station. MR. AND MRS. W. E. PHIL LIPSON and son, Gordon, and family surprised friends here last week when they paid a surprise visit to the community. The Phil lipsons were former owners of the Beatty Store. KFPA equipment centered here was used last Saturday evening to light small brush fires started by lightning. About 12 fires were reported caused by the lightning, including a small brush fire on cemetery hill. MAI. Bessie Reeves, Cook Sta tion, Mo. She also visited rela tives in Southern California. MR. AND MRS. LOYAL LOVE- NESS and Kobert Holl flew to Pasadena last week to attend a wedding and tlien on to Phoenix, Ariz., where they visited their daughter and family, Dr. and Mrs, Michael O'Harra. The Ingrams also have a son, Dale. Vi. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. John Derra and Mr. and Mrs. Turner Ingram. DAIRY BOB HORTON received word that a former employe, Lcs Hip pie, died at a Fortuna hospital where he had been taken for tests. He is survived by his wife, Georg ette, daughters Deanna Simmons, Blocksburg, Calif., Darlene Kess ler, Malin, and son, Bill, who is in the service. MR. AND MRS. CLIFF SEW- ALD of Merced spent a few days here. They brought Sewald's son, Denny, to visit his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Haley and Mr. and Mrs. V. M. Scwald. For years on the last day of camp when all my bunkmatcs were weeping hysterically at say ing farewell, I was never able to join them in this display of cmo- Coos County Delegation Asks Highway SALEM (UPD-More spending to improve Highway 42 was sought by a Coos County delega tion at Thursday's meeting of the Oregon State Highway Commis sion. Coos County Commissioner J. J. Geany led the Coos delegation which asked more work on the highway between Coquille and Myrtle Point and improvement o the Powers secondary highway trom Khoda Creek to Powers. Commission members said the request would be studied but pointed to the lack ot funds tor new highway work. Members of the Highway 99 Al ternate Road Association request ed making Oregon Highway 74 a major road between Forest Grove and Longview, Wash. They also sought improvements on the road between Forest Grove and Yam- The commission earlier added the w idening of Cox Crock Bridge on the Waverley Lak section of old Highway 99 north of Albany to this year's list of state projects. Work on six county roads was authorized as part of the construc tion work on county federal aid secondary highways for the 1164 fiscal year. The projects in Clatsop. Lake, Lane, Lincoln, Malheur and Wal lowa counties will cost $322,000. The Lincoln County job involves paving 1.1 miles of the road which will serve the new Oregon Stale University oceanogrnph facilities on Yaquina Bay. He has asked dozens of questions. He just as sumes he will be present. The question is, should he be? My husband says, "Yes." I'm not so sure. I remember the first funeral 1 attended when I was 7.
