Lakeview High Schoo Presents Year s Award At the awards assembly held on Way 16, the Girls' Athletic Association of Lakeview High School gave special awards to Judi Sefert as the outstanding senior girl; Janet Taylor, out standing junior girl; Christine Radford, outstanding sophomore girl; Shirley Hansen, sportsman ship; and to Mama fllctzcn, who earned the highest number of points, 270. Each of the girls was presented with a medallion, and Judi Sefert will have her name engraved on a plaque which will emain in the school. These girls were cliosen by the major ity of the GAA members by secret ballot. Mrs. .Margaret Weir, commcr-l cial teacher, presented an award to Shirley Hansen for being the outstanding member of the Pep Club. She also gave awards to Patty Ianc and Carol Allen as outstanding students in Typing I Robert Shotwcll, director of vocal music, awarded pins to all members of the Choralairs be cause of the excellent grade they w.i.wl al ll.n .,,ln an1 oneom. Student council awards from the Nation al Association of Student Coun cils were presented by Principal Rex Hunsaker to the student body officers of tho past year, Bay Vargas, Ruth Goss, Jean Mc Donald and Dallas Angele. Larry Flynn received - the George S. Turnbull certificate of yearbook service for his work as editor of the Sagebrush Echo. Nancy Lanlz, associate editor, received a similar award. Special recognition was given Dona Evans, Alary Gie.se. and Sharon Duval for three or four years of service on the yearbook. The Kric W. Allen Certificate of Newspaper Service was awarded to D.an Leahy. Scholastic awards in journalism were made to Jean Snider and Deanna Johnston. Connie Duke, Regina Perkinson and Dallas Angele were cited for work on tho Honker Herald by F. S. Chasm, adviser. Mary Ann Williams and Mike Shrpman were cited for art awards by Mrs. Antoinette Radford, instructor. Rich McDonald and Greg Tracy. Tho Lakeview High School band and chorus presented tlie "Pops" concert. May IS in, the gymnasium. Some of the selec tions of tlie chorus were "Climb Every Mountain," "When the Red Red Robin Comes Bob Bob Bobbin" Along." "Round and Round," "Every Night When the Sun Goes Down," and "Now the Day is Over." Some of tlie se lections played by the entire band were "Titus Overture." Teddy Bear's Picnic," and "All American Campus." The band honored the gradu ating seniors and there were two solos and a quartet accompan ied by the band. Tlie solos were presented by Bryan Hopkins, who played "Cabins." and Layne Clif ton. "Tnimpeter's l,ullaby." The quartet, made up of Kay Chaf- fin, Dona t.vans, Janet rarts, and Sandy Meisner, played "Swing i.ow Sweet Saxes." Tlie music was under the direction of Robert Shotwcll and John Jor dan.
