I' ; K - BETTY ANN CHAPMAN Auxiliary Names Girl MERRILL The Merrill Ameri can Legion Auxiliary has selected Betty Ann Chapman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ithcl Chapman, to attend Girls' Stale in Salem June 10 - 16. Betty, 17-ycar-old Merrill High School junior, is active in the Speech Cluh and Pep Club. She is most interested in biology and plans a career in that field. She also serves as vice presi dent of Theta Rho and is marshal of the district convention in Med ford. Betty lists her hohbies as bowling, dancing, and piano. Student Killed HILLSBORO il'Pn - Dinah lc. 18, Glendale, died in a hos pital Monday from injuries suf fered in a two-car accident Sun day. She was a student at Pacific I'nivcrsity. (L'PIi - An overturned truck - trailer loaded with potentially poisonous missile luei was lilted upright Tuesday and delivered to its desti nation without incident. Two huge cranes managed the precarious revocery operation ear ly Tuesday. Officials previously had weighed the nossihiliiv of "imping the fuel out. Precautionary measures, which included evacuating residents within a one-mile radius of the overturned truck and clnsina nearby schools, were called nil after the safe removal. The residents were removed from the area Monday after the truck carrying Titan missile fuel overturned, but were allowed to return home after the tank rjortinn of the vehicle was cradled hv three cranes to keep its weight evenly distributed. Oflicers said that if the linuid fuel were released in the air it would develop a poisonous gas that would be fatal. The cranes were used to prevent anv strain on the tank that could cause a leak. "If you don't receive a premi um book within the next three weeks or if you know you are not already on the mailing list, write to the Modoc County Fairgrounds, Cedarville, and we will mail one out to you. "It is the exhibitors who make the fair a success for everyone and we welcome one and all. Ken, a three-year lctterman in football, baseha',1, and track, and a two-year lctterman in basket ball, plans to become a coach. He is a member of the Letter men's Club, chorus. Speech Club.
