He said he hoped for "not only large gifts but also, small ones" the drive to meet the iounda- lion's money goal by Oct. 11, 1964, the 80th anniversary of the birth of the former first lady. Surrounded by relatives, friends and associates of Mrs. Roosevelt, Kennedy signed the bill in his of fice. Then the group moved out side to the White House flower garden for further remarks by Kennedy and by Adlai E. Steven son, U.S. ambassador to the Unit ed Nations. Stevenson was chair man of a committee which devel oped the foundation and will con tinue as foundation chairman. Noting that it was at the While House that Mrs. Roosevelt's public service activities became so vast, Stevenson said that she kept up her good works after returning to private life. He evoked a smile from Kennedy by telling him: 'It may be some comfort to you to know that the White House is not the end that you may find something to do when you leave the While House, whenever that might be."
