Portland Nurse Strangled PORTLAND (UPD A 22 year old Multnomah County Hospital nurse as found dead Monday and a deputy coroner said she apparently liad been strangled. The victim was Mary Frances Reid, whose body was found lying face down behind the breakfast bar in her neat north Portland apartment. Police said there were no signs of a struggle. Deputy Coroner Ted Lucas said a preliminary autopsy indicated the young woman had been stang led, possibly with a rope or some thing of a similar nature. The victim had been ill at home wilii a virus infection. Neighbors said they heard sounds of an argument and a pos sible struggle in the apartment late Sunday night. Police questioned and then re leased a friend of the victim Monday night. The sister, Mrs. Jo Ann Wood aids, said she had telephoned the victim Monday, to see if she could use her washing machine. Kilkenny has been asked to reconsider a decision which denied two widows dam ages lor loss of their husbands in a boating accident. A motion was filed in Federal Court Friday by James R. Ellis, attorney for Mrs. Robert Bolam and Mrs. Ted Sigurdson, whose husbands drowned in January of 1960 near Grays Harbor, Wash. Seniors Plan For Dinner MERRILL Seniors at .Merrill High School are busy making fi nal arrangements for their third annual public spaghetti dinner to be held Saturday, April 13, in the elementary school cafeteria. Serv ing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Proceeds from the dinner w ill be used to help purchase the gilt the graduating seniors plan to give to the school. The class adviser is Kelly Robinette.
