Bert Moore, 50, 1235 Owens Street, observes what ha bslievas is a piece of a petrified cycad trunk, a flowering plant which was common in soma parts of North America during the Miocena epoch about 35 million years ago. Moore, a rockhound and one-time prospector, found the curio in the desert about two miles southeast of Paisley recently and left it with the Klamath County Museum. Mn. Lloyd Seeley, curator of the museum, has shipped the object to the University of Oregon to be positively identified and catalogued. Cycads, believed to be among the earth's first flowering plants, survived in moist, torrid climate that was once characteristic of Southern Oregon.
