The view at leff was taken from the balcony of the Lake side Inn (formerly known as the Linkville Hotel! and is looking east down Main Street. Note that the front of the Baldwin Hardware Store Inow Baldwin Hotoll has been boarded up. It was understood that dynamite had to bo used in some spots to loosen the rock, althouqh this fact has not beei confirmed. In view at right, photographer on this day in I906 moved uo closer for a view taken from the wooden sidewalks which lined the street. Reports of the incident stafe that work started about midnight on a . Saturday and was rushed through Sunday and into Monday so that the roadbed would , be ready on the Main Street section when the rails arrived.
