Among the guests was his i sister, Mrs. Rita Rosetto of Palo Alto, who was also present at the wedding in North ern Italy. Olympio Vanni came to this country alone in 1915 and later was joined by : nis wile, Louise and their two sons, Antonio and Danny. The Vannis also have tour ; grandchildren and one great-grandchild. I base this observa tion not so much on personal progress in my own home as seeing how brightly some tal ented homcmaker.1 and interior Besigners are treating these con necting links. There is inspiration and guidance here or me. The first point I note is to resist fiercely the inclination to Jet the hallway become an untidy collect ing point for things belonging elsewhere. Remember, a hallway is a passageway leading from one point to another. Our concern, secondly, is with wall and floor treatments, not old furniture which can be shoved out of sight in a hall. The old-time "hall runner" could be a prettv dismal excuse for carpeting. But you can find the 27-inch width carpeting today in good colors, textures and patterns suitable for use on stairs and hallways. One idea which I like be cause it's high on color, easy to maintain and low on cost is the use of nonskid "scatter" rugs in one or more colors. The kind of rug I'm referring to (several companies make them I and am testing in a heavily used hallway between kitchen and dining room, has a urethane base permanently heat-laminated to the rug back. This material holds the rug tight to the floor and has sur vived several washings and tum ble dryings without deterioration. Colors are marvelous and the size range impressive. If you are yearning to splash a bit of bold color around, consider the Spanish dash in one setting of red, orange and gold rugs laid side by side in striped effect, re peating the colors of a magnifi cent Spanish mania la woven wool rug or bedspread i hanging on the wall. Hallways often offer the wall space necessary for hanging an old or modern tapestry, an ar rangement of pictures or a col lec'ion of posters or prints. One homemaker I know lines her hall with family pictures formal por traits, informal snapshots, sketch es all framed in light wood with bright red plaid mats. If a hallway is slightly wider than the average, there may be room for bookshelves or en closed storage. A row of storage cabinets (sliding doorsi I saw re cently stands about four feet high. On top of the cabinets is dis played a collection of plants in gay jardinieres and botanic prints propped on easels. Past Honored Queen Sue Ken non was presented with a silver dish by William Chtyne on be half of the Lost River Masonic Club. A clever reading, "Little Boy's Pocket." was given by Pam De Lap, librarian. A handy dog or cat brush of plastic is designed so that the re silient, long-wearing bristles will virtually clean themselves. After use, the bristles are completely retracted by giving the top of the round case a quarter turn. As they slide away, the bristles deposit accumulated hair on the case surface. In the closed posi tion, the pet cleaner can be car rien-in purse or pocket. SILVER LAKE Mr. and Mrs. James E. Garrick have returned from a wedding trip to San Fran cisco and tlie California (exist, and are at home at Silver Lake. where the bridegroom is em ployed by the forest service. The wedding was an event of Dec. 30 at First Baptist Church, Bend. Tlie bride, a 19t2 graduate of Lakevicw High School, is the for mer Linda Nelson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard E. Nel son. Mrs. Lundv sang "Alwavs" and I Ixivc You Truly," accompan ied by Mrs. Morris Clark at the organ. The hrwe was given in marriage by her father. Joan Annette Perry, Fort Rock. was the bride s attendant and John Roseberry, Crescent, was best man. The bnde s floor-length gown was fashioned of white lace over satin. Pearl and crystal beads traced tlie sweetheart neckline and decorated the matching head piece holding her fingertip veil. Her bouquet was of shattered carnations in white, accented w ith red. She wore a pearl necklace. gilt of the bridegroom. Tlie maid of honor wore a bal lerina-length frock of red satin. with a short white veil held by a red bow. She carried a bouquet of red and white carnations. Debbie ilaupunan, niece of the bridegroom, was flower girl. Her white satin dress, saslied in red, had small matching bows trim ming tlie skirl. Her white basket held red and w hite carnation pet als. Vallard Reed was ring bearer. Ronald Wyatt and Robert Reed were usliers. Gary Wyatt and Fred Larson were candle light ers. The bride's mother wore a beige sheath dress with brown accessor ies. The bridegroom's mother wore a light brocade sheath ac cented with a blue velvet cum- mertand and her accessories were beige. Both wore pink rosebud and carnation corsages. At the reception in the fellow ship hall of the church, Mrs. Robert Wyatt cut the wedding cake, Mrs. Lloyd Hawjtmsn, La Grande, sister of tlie bridegroom, ured tlie coffee and Mrs. John (iarrick. Crescent, sister-in-law of tlie bridegroom, served the punch. Mrs. Robert Elston, Klamath Falls, sister of the bridegroom. was in charge of the guest book. Florence Martindalc and Gloria Chandler, Lakeview, former class mates of the bride, presided at the gift table. For going away the bride wore beige walking suit with moss green accessories and s match ing orchid corsage.
