DAIRY MRS. JOHN URBACK is vis iting relatives in Illinois. MRS. DON HUGHES, the form er Suzanne Rice of Dairy, will be honored with a bridal show er at 8 p.m. Oct. 26 in Bonanza Library. Relatives and friends are invited. BONANZA SHARON JACKSON and Toni Jiminez are spending the winter in San Francisco. MRS. MILDRED CAMPBELL has returned from a month's visit with relatives in Minnesota. She was accompanied by her sister from Seattle. MRS. SANTFORD JONES left Thursday to be with her husband who is recovering from surgery in San Francisco. MRS. DON RALPH is spend ing two weeks with her sister in Portland. MR. AND MRS. BEN COTTON, Eugene, are spending a few days at the Bill Burnett ranch. MRS. FLORENCE HORN is visiting with her aunt, Mrs. An nie Cline, Alturas. LOUIS MONROE JR. has re turned home to Cave Junction after visiting his sister, Mrs. Reg Thomas and family. REV. AND MRS. EUGENE WILLIS and their two children have returned home from a vis it with his mother in the Bay Area. spending a week in Bonanza with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Frazier. ROY WARFIKLD is a patient at Hillside Hospital. MRS. AMY JOHNSON of Bisn op is visiting her nephew, Wes Dearborn and family. THE GUILD OF ST. BARNA BAS EPISCOPAL CHURCH will meet at the home of Mrs. Paul Monroe on Oct. 19. Final plans will be made for the annual turkey dinner and bazaar Nov. 4 at Bonanza School. MR. AND MRS. HARRY BAUM, former local residents now living in Klamath Falls, are staying at Wood River motel during deer hunting. RUSS EDGETT, cattle buyer for the Auburn Packing Co., Au burn. Wash., has returned there alter a business stay of several weeks. MRS. FRANCES THOMPSON left last week to visit her daugh ter and family, the Charles Smiths, Klamath Falls, before returning to Lake Arrowhead Calif. She had visited here for some time with a second daugh ter and family, the James Van Wormers. Radarman l.C. Vernon Branham, U.S. Navy, left Oct 14, after a 10-day leave with his mother and sisters. MR. AND MRS. CLIFFORD ENGLE and family had as their recent house guests her sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Barnes and son Clay, Livingston, Calif, and ' Mr. and Mrs. Sub Wood, Eugene. MR. AND MRS. BILL NICHOL SON and four children have moved to Merrill and will return here in the spring. MRS. ELMORE NICHOLSON has been named to served on the United Fund annual drive committee assisting Robert N. Latzy, chairman. MRS. They are capable of being airborne in less than five minutes after they are "scrambled," The "Voodoos" are equipped to identify andor destroy unknown or hos tile aircraft. New Winfer Sporf Area Planned At Mt. Ashland A new major winter sports area is being planned for the Pacific Northwest. The forest service has called for applications and bids for the devel opment and operation of a com mercial winter sports enterprise at Mt. Ashland, according to C. E. Brown, forest supervisor. Rogue River National Forest. Mt. Ash land is in the Siskiyou Mountains, eight miles south of Ashland. Bids wilt be opened July 2, 12, according to Brown. Plans for the development of the Mt. Ashland site call for construction of lodge, ski shop, food and beverage facilities, and utilities, as well as ski lifts and tows. A term permit will be issued to the successful bidder for a period of 20 years, with provision for renewal, for the area upon which buildings, ski lifts, and other structures are to be built. An annual permit will 1 1 be issued for a larger area to in clude the ski slopes and runs not covered in the term permit. A bid form and prospectus has been distributed to each known in.
