Older Woman Sets Trap For Bachelor PAGE t-h HERALD AND NEWS, Klainath Falls, Ore. Wednesday, March 22, 1961 By ANN LANDERS Dear Ann Landers: I am 33, have never been married but I've had many romances. I've been dating a woman who is 43 but she doesn't look it. Kitty tells everyone she's going you are not giving ncr "laise hope." It's not your place to encour age her to educate herself under any circumstances. During court ship young people have a peculiar deafness. After marriage the hear. ing suddenly Improves. This Is THEIR problem, however, not yours. Dear Ann Landers: I am a boy 16 who needs your help. My older brother taught me how to drive and I'm an excellent driver. 1 passed the test and got my driver's license three weeks ago. The trouble is, my dad won't let me have the car. He says I am too young, If the law says I'm old enough and I earned my license isn'tl BASIN BRIEFS MERRILL MERRILL HOME EXTENSION IL'NIT will meet Thursday, March 23, at 10 a.m. in the recreation hall. He cannot decide if : - he wants to marry her. ; Our problem is this: If we con ; tinue to extend our warm hos : pitality (he brings her to dinner often) and he then decides to drop her, she will feel that we gave ; her false hope. If we stop having her over, and she later becomes our daughter-in-law, she will feel that we were against her. ' Also, she did not graduate from hich school and is virtually 11 - literate. Please show it to him: Dear Dad; You can't raise your son under a glass bell. This Is the machine age in every sense of the word. A boy who has earned his license should have the car a few hours every week. Let him take the family for a ride. When his mother sees that he Is a careful driver she will be less nervous. If he gets a ticket or abuses time privileges then you have the right to for bid him to use the cor. Does almost everyone have a good time but you? Rogers Roofing & Siding SAVE 20 OFF-SEASON PRICES FREE ESTIMATES Ph. TU 4-8866 SALEM (AP) - The House Highway Committee Tuesday rec-j ommended passage of a bill that would increase Portland's share of state gasoline tax money slight ly. At present cities get 10 per cent of state gas tax revenue based on their share of the tola' urban pop ulation of the state. However, all cities are permitted to count 100 per cent of their population ex cept Portland, which is allowed to count only two-thirds of its pop ulation. The approved bill would allow Portland lo increase the per cent of its population it could count to share in gas tax money to 70 per cent. The bill would be effective in 1962 and would give Portland an additional 64,700. It would result in slight decreases in other cities in the state. Multnomah County representa tives urged favorable action on the bill on the ground that it was only fair. Rep. Norman Howard, D-Portland, asked why Portland should suffer because it is larger. It was pointed out that passage of the bill would cost Salem about $5,000, Corvallis about $2,000 and Astoria about $1,000, as examples of its impact. The committee also called back a bill it had approved to authorize $4 million in bonds for Highway Ways and Means Committee. This;House Speaker Robert Duncan, 42 and re-referred it to the Jointlaction was at the request of:D-Medford. LIKES QUIET DIPLOMACY WASHINGTON (UPI) - Soviet Ambassador Mikhail A.
