Alturas Club Plans Benefit ALTURAS The Eastern Star Past Matrons and Patrons Club will have a benefit card party at the Masonic Hall in Alturas at 8 o'clock on Saturday evening March 11. Bridge, pcdro and pi' nochle will be played and therej will be prizes for each game, as well as a special prize. Admission will be one dollar. Delicious homemade refresh ments will be served. Club members are looking for ward to an enjoyable evening and extend an invitation to anyone who would like to come for an evening of good fun, good food and lots of prizes. s o c E T Y By HELEN BECHEN Cow Belles i Meet In Yreka YREKA Beautiful arrange ments of yellow acacia and lav ender iris, highlighted with sil vered horseshoes, decorated the luncheon tables at' the Shamrock Cafe for the spring luncheon of the Siskiyou Cow Belles held Thursday, with approximately 50 women in attendance. Other decorations consisted of i corsages of daffodils and Dutch! iris, which were claimed by the person having a leather favor at her place setting. The clever decor was arranged by Mrs. Esther Foulke, Mrs. Alice Hessig and Mrs. Shirley (Hessig) Elwood. Mrs. Pat Smith, president, con ducted the business session at which time she appointed chair men as follows: Mrs. Betty Hart, Fathers Day party; June Hollistcr, fair booth; Jean Valentine, beef promotion; Gladys Hart, hospital ity; Mildred Long and Gladys Hart, scrapbook, and Betty Kuck. publicity.
