Corbett said the committee at an earlier hearing raised ques tions about the equipment. Corbett said the proposal of Gov. Mark 0. Hatfield would elim inate the need for the proposed electronic equipment. This equip ment, he said, would require an annual rent of some $500,000. In addition to this, Corbett said, the permanent licenses would per mit less staff, reduce space needs and produce other economies. Vern L. Hill, director of the Mo tor Vehicles Department, said in a letter to Sen. Anthony Yturri, R-Ontario, that the permanent li cense proposal will be presented to the next Legislature. (AP)-A truck left the road today and plunged 40 feet over an embankment into the kitchen of a home near here. Police said George Edward Hcr ron, 42, Kelso, Wash., the driver, was in serious condition. The ac cident occurred on Fern Hill Road, near U. S. Highway 30. The accident demolished the kitchen of John Hoffmann's home. Police said the brakes failed on Herron's truck. Hoffmann was asleep in a bed room when the truck hit the house. He was unhurt.
