Two were killed Thanksgiving Day, four others Saturday. The Thanksgiving Day crash took the lives of William Niekcll and Mildred Jones near the. South ern Oregon town of Jacksonville. The Saturday crashes killed : Mr. and Mrs. A L. Pugley of Notus, Idaho, on a highway east of Bend; Michael John Helligso, 16, Astor ia, near Astoria; and Anthony Ross, 56, Aptos, Calif., on the highway near the Eastern Oregon town of Jordan Valley. Four persons died on Oregon highways last Thanksgiving. The toll for November in Oregon now is up to 49, and the Associated Press count (or the year is up to 425, compared to 434 at this time last year. i I ' 9 'Repentant' New Deal Planner Dies Suddenly CHARLOTTESVILLE. WASHINGTON (AP) - An engi neers' report says large-scale pro duction of electricity as a by product of the government's plu tonium reactor at Hanford, Wash., is probably economically feasible. The Senate-House Atomic Ener gy Committee, for which the re port was written by engineering consultants and made partly pub lic, emphasized, however, that it has not yet sludied the document. In a 1958 report, the Atomic Energy Commission concluded the production of700,000 kilowatts of power at Hanford would he profit able and "will produce plutonium at a significant lower cost than a, plutonium-only concept." The Beck report said an acini-1 tional 400.000 kilowatts of power will be needed in the Pacific Northwest by 19G4. It assumed that after that the demand will outstrip the supply, unless more power is generated.
