Laying out a campaign blue print in a 311-minute address in terrupted 18 times by applause. Nixon pledged lo carry the GOP bid "into every stale, city and town that limitations ol time, (pace and physical endurance will permit." He olicred these campaign sug gestions: Criticize (he Democratic record and deiend the Republican record but do not resort 10 making, or answering, personal attacks. "That has been my policy in Ihe past. II will continue (0 be in the future." Don't make Ihe mistake "of flailing our campaign loo early and have nothing lelt lor the jlretch." Nixon made it clear he will not run on the Eisenhower record Heart Attack Claims Solon WASHINGTON (AP) Russell Vernon Mack (R-'ash, 68. a con gressman since 1947, collapsed and died in the House ol Rep resentatives Monday. He had been talking on the floor ol the House with Rep. Henry Al. rious Dixon (R-Ulah) and Rep. Thomas M. Pelly (R-Wash). "It's a nice day, isn't it?" Dixon re marked. "Not for me." Mack replied. Then Mack fell lo the floor. Unking his head on a seat. Three House members who are medical doctors rushed lo his side and car ried him lo a cloakroom. They were Reps. Thomas K. Morgan (D-Pai, Dale Allord ID-Ark I and Walter H. Judd (R-Minni. Dr. George V. Calvcr, physician to Congress, pronounced Mack dead of a coronary occlusion. Mack's death leaves the House party makeup al 280 Democrats, 1S1 Republicans. There are six- vacancies. Mack was Ihe 11th member of Congress to die since the present session began in Jan uary 1959. Mack was born at Hillman Mich., and his family moved to Washington when he was a child. He attended Stanford University and the University of Washington. In 1913 he took a job as a cub reporter on the Aberdeen, Wash., Daily World. By 1920 he was the newspaper's business manager. In 1934 he bought the Hoquiam. Wash., Daily Washinglonian. He is survived by his widow. alone but on the basis of an ex panded program of his own. "A record is something to build on. not lo stand on." he said. "Stand-pat, hold-the-line think ing is not enough to meet the great challenges confronting Ihe American people at home and abroad."
