Mack's death leaves the House

vacancies. Mack was Ihe 11th
member of Congress to die since

Mack was born at Hillman
Mich., and his family moved to
Washington when he was a child.
He attended Stanford University
and the University of Washington.
In 1913 he took a job as a cub
reporter on the Aberdeen, Wash.,
Daily World. By 1920 he was the
newspaper's business manager. In
1934 he bought the Hoquiam.

grand jury probe of Mickey Cohen
