JOLLY TIME Pop Corn is now available in the new 20-ounce economy s:ie in both the white and yellow varieties. The package at right was opened to show the easy opening. Just pull the thread, a short length of which is left at the end of the sealing. JOLLY TIME POP CORN There is an old saying lo the effect that, if a manufacturer can improve his product, he'll make the package harder to net i.ito. That is not the case at all with Jolly Time Pop Corn. The pop corn merchandised under the .lol ly Time lahel was just as Rood as it could be already, and now the company has made a more con venient package than ever. Pop corn loses a little of its freshness alter it is opened and fhe cans didn't close lightly un til this new improvement. Now, it is practically rcsealins and the corn pops just as lully next lime as the first popping after the package is opened. - We like to use an old fash ioned all wire popper and pour melted butter pver the hot pop corn and then salt it lo taste. Letting the youngsters make pop corn balls on a stormy Saturday afternoon will occupy their atten tion for a considerable time and is a painless way to give the small try kitchen experience. Washing up the dishes and pans used in candy-making is not nearly as much work as helping .with the dinner dishes. A big bowl of Jolly Time pop corn alongside a dish of lovely red Snoboy apples is a wonderful (and nourishing) after-school snack for the returning school crowd. Casserole 1 pound or 2 cups mush rooms, sliced 1 tablespoon minced onion ',i cup cashew nuts or slivered almonds 'i cup butter 1-3 cup flour '.2 teaspoon dry mustard 1 teaspoon salt teaspoon pepper 2 cups milk pound processed Swiss cheese, shredded ' teaspoon tabasco sauce 1 tablespoon lemon juice Vi pounds or 2 packages green beans, conked and drained !i cup chopped cashews or al monds 1 tablespoon butter Saute mushrooms, onion, and ' cup nuts in butter in large skil let. Add flour and seasonings and blend. Add milk stirring constant ly and cook until sauce is smooth and thickened. Add 1 cup shredded cheese, tabasco and lemon juice; cook over low heal until cheese is melted. Add beans. Pour into a buttered 2 quart casserole dish. Bake in a moderate oven, 351) de grees, for 15 to 20 minutes. Sprin kle over the top remaining cheese and chopped nuts browned in but' ter; bake only until cheese is slightly melted. This de licious fruit gives langy-sweet fla vor and a pleasant chewy texture contrast. Add sliced fresh dates to cole slaw and Waldorf salad, too. Slice celery into crescents: cook In a small amount of boiling salt ed water just unlil tender. Serve with a cheese sauce. A GLAMOROUS DESSERT Wont a glamorous dessert for company? Make a plate - size meringue Urom scratch or a mix); crush center and fill with ice cream balls in assorted col ors and flavors. GARNISH GOODNESS Sweetest of garnishes for des sert plates: heat an egg white slightly with a half-teaspoon of water and dip grapes in it, then roll in extra-fee granulated sugar. The Chinese have a mid - morning breakfast, chao Isan, which may include cakes, soup, rice, vegeta ble bowls, fish, meat or poultry and preserved or fresh eggs, tireakfast in Japan, choshiyoku, is fundamentally the same as in China. In addition lo toast and beverage, breakfast in the Nether lands, ontbijt, may include hot ce real, smoked beef, eggs and cheese. Even a linguist would be hard pressed to recognize breakfast by many of its names. In Czechoslo vakia it's snidani; in Yugoslavia, dorvcak; and in Poland, szniada- ii io. In Iceland, breakfast is mor gan - nalur; Greece, progevma; Turkey, kahvalti; Germany, frueh- stueck; Norway, frokast, and Swe den, frukast. In the Philippine Is lands, breakfast is pang-una-gahan, and in Portugal it's simple cafe.
