Installation for the newly elect- Supervisors Award Hospital Bid YREKA With a base bid of $37, S49. low bidder, K. R. Cummins Construction Co., was awarded the contract for the remodeling of the Siskiyou County General Hospital kitchen, during the recent session of the Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors. Included in the base bid is general construction, heat ing, ventilation and installation of equipment to be purchased. Equipment to be purchased will consist of such items as ranges, tables, steam tables, and dish washers, was set up under separate bids, with Wds ranging from ltl.215 to $14,825. After some discussion with Rob ert Keeney, Medford architect; Robert McKean, county hospital administrator, and Jess O'Roke. county administrator, the super visors agreed that McKean and O'Roke could probably purchase the required equipment for less money than the low bid, saving the county money. It was indicated by the bids submitted that the cost of con struction and estimated cost of equipment would come to about $,50,000, whereas the supervisors had originally allowed $33,000. leaving a deficit of $15,000. Following a suggestion made by McKean, the board agreed to add $15,000 of this year s unappropri ated, hospital funds to the al leady allocated $35,000 of next year's funds to complete the proj ect. A unanimous vote was cast by the board to accept the bid and complete the construction. At the urgent request of airport coordinator, F. H. Christiansen that the supervisors establish uni form standards for hangars and other buildings and on leases of county airports, in an effort to eliminate unsightly buildings, the board agreed to request the plan ning commission to draw up a master plan and specifications fof each county-owned airport. The proposed purchase and in stallation of two-way equipment c o u t y mobile units was brought up for discussion, when Frank Rrockway of Esco Radio. Mount Shasta, appeared before board members to ascertain if the work will be let out to bid. as he understood specifications were so designed that only one manufac turer could bid on the system. Assurance was given by County Road Commissioner Al Powers that specifications will be set up so that all manufacturers and any licensed person in commum cations will be in a position to bid Funds in the amount of $14,040 have been allocated to apply to ward purchase of the system, and will probably be offered for bid ding about November 1. A report on the canvass of the June 2 election on the proposition to annex the Highland School Dis trict to the Fort Jones School Dis trict was also given to the super visors. There were eight yes votes, no one voted against it, the an nexation to be effective July 1, lo.
