Beulah Llliott gave each of the past presidents a diploma of past presidency and poetry, composed by Leola Thompson. Camperships were awarded to Naomi French for the Camp Fire Girls, and to Harriett Brotherhood for the Girl Scouts. La Verne Bridges, daughter of Dorothy Hawthorne, a past presi dent, sang "In My Garden" and Love is a Many iiplendored Thing." Her accompanist was Le ola ihompson. The next meeting will be the annual picnic at the Veterans Me morial Park on June 15 at. S p.m : NEW OFFICERS of the Sacred Heart Academy Mothers Club ware installed at tha regular meeting on May 14. Tha committaa reported en tha success of tha first communion breakfast, which tha club gives each year for tha new communicants and their parents. Tha club's new project, the Gold Bond Group Project Plan was discussed and future plans made to usa this plan to help furnish tha new addition to tha academy which will be ready for uia this fall. Court Klamath No. 1293. held in stallation ceremonies for 12 new officers on Tuesday night, May 26 Mrs. Elva Bris'ow. district deputy from Eugene, was in charge of the installation. Mrs. Norman Sherwood will as sume the duties of grand recent at the business meeting on Mon day, June (. Assisting her will be Mrs. Richard L. Zwicnrr, vice regent; Mrs. Ray Zarosinski, pro phetess: Mrs. John J. Lynch, his torian; Mary F.gan. lecturer; Mrs W. G. Ely. financial secretary; Mrs. J. K. McAndrews. treasurer. Mrs. Keefe Walker, monitor; Mrs Joseph E. Rruner, sentinel; Mrs. Stanley J. Smith, organist: Mrs. H. R. Burritt and Mrs. John A. Raffetto, trustees for three years. A social hour followed the in stallation ceremonies. The Very Rev. E. J. Murnane of Eugene, state chaplain of ( DA. showed col ored slides of the various coun tries he had visited last summer when he conducted a group ot American tourists through Eur ope. Mrs. J. K. McAndrews, as aisled by a large commtttee. was in charge of the refreshment ta ble. Preceding the Installation cere monies a no-hostess dinner was held in the Camas Room of the Wtnema Hotel, incoming officers and newly-appointed committee women, along with outgoing ofli rers and retiring committee wom en, made up the rosier of gwsis A very special guest was Mrs Nellie Fraiuwa ol Eugene, who Is being honored by all CDA court) in Oregon this year because ehe organired and helped fo establish the first court in Oregon. SO years ago this year. Mrs. D. W. I.avin and Mrt. John Kennedy made arrangements for the dinner. They wera assist "d by Mrs Junior Wagner and Mrs. John Raffetto. PIANO RECITAL Local Woman Attends Reunion A trip by air. her first, taken bv Mrs. Bert C. Thomas to attend the 50th anniversary of her class at Ohio State University. Colum bus. Ohio, included in addition to visits. with many of her former classmates, a surprise on the re turn trip. Mrs. Thomas received recogni lion and a gift for having trav eled farther than the olher 1)2 class members present. The original class included about 400 students This was the first reunion that some of the members did not at tend on crutches or in wheel chairs. Transferring at Chicago, Mrs. Thomas boarded a United Air Lines plane, was comfortably set tled and had a seat guest, her son-in-law Joe Narcisso, San Fran cisco, a national figure in the field of archeology who had been at tending a meeting in Washington. DC. Each was aware of the other's travels but arrival and departures of planes had not been compared. Boarding of the same plane was happenstance. Narcisso was en route to his home at Navato near San Francisco where Mrs. Thom as continued for a brief visit with ANNOUNCED recently by Mr. and Mn. Alfred A. Oualman of Coos Bay, Ore gon, is the engagement of their daughter, Sandra Lou, to John Kenneth Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Miller of Malin. The bride-elect, a grad uate of Southern Oregon College, is a member of Robes and Sigma Epsilon Pi, honor sorority. She it pres ently teaching at Madison Street School in Empire. The prospective bride groom, was graduated from SOC and Oregon State Col lege and is completing two years fvith the armed forces in Nurnbarg, Germany. The wedding will take place in Nurnbarg in early August. Mrs. Oualman will travel to Europe with her daughter for the nuptials. BIRTHDAYS HONORED BONANZA - A potluck dinner was given at the home of Mrs Cecil Haley on May 27, in honor or the birthdays of Mrs. Birdie Burk and Mrs. Fred Rueck. Mrs. Burk was 84 years old that day. After dinner the honored guests opened thair gifts and a social af ternoon was enjoyed by Mrs. Le- Roy Fernlund, Mrs. t)wen People. Mrs. Roy Whitlach.
