JANUARY 18. 1959 GRANGE NEWS TULELAKE TULELAKE - The Tulelak Grange meeting for a busy session on January 8 elected John Baley to the executive board, planned lor public card parly and conducte! other business. The date (or the card party, January 22 was post poned until January 29 in defer ence lo the Holy Cross Altar So ciety which will entertain at pub lic parly on the 22nd. Time (or play will be at 7:30 p.m. and there will be prizes for bridge and pinochle. Clarence Moore, master, was in the chair following a 6:30 pot luck supper. Canisters nf peanut filled candies have been ordered by the grange to be sold. Several grangers are vacation ing away from Tulelake this win ter: .Mrs. Bea Schweiler is in Ha waii; Mr. and Mrs. 11. T. Street have an apartment in Barkeley where they can visit a daughter, Mrs. Robert Brnnscombe and fam ily and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Scott are in I'alm Springs. The next business meeting will be Thursday, February 12. MIDLAND A very busy and interesting meeting was held January 7. There was one proposal for mem bership: Mr. and Mrs. Lewis C. Stark ' received their obligation from Master James Klowers. Mrs. Mayme Cammock, lectur er, was authorized to hold a no host pot luck dinner in honor of members whose birthdays fell in the last six months of W58; it will be held on January 21 at 6:30 p.m. Mrs. Alice Hoover was appoint ed gift chairman for the birthdays. It was also decided to hold an other attendance contest between the ladies and the men, (luring the coming year. Mis. Cammock presented a liter ary program. All members pre sented their aims and good wishes for the grange in 1050. Ruth An rliieii won the prize in a "bird game." The new officers took part in a New Year candlelight dedication service, with Mrs. Hoover repre senting the New Year. Happy Birthday was sung for those hav ing birthdays this month: Mrs. Mm nie Andricu, Ruth Andricu. Mrs Netta Britlon and Charles Britton. Leon Anarieu, Wallace liriuon. Floyd Hoover, Ralph Sukraw and Guy Gnllcltl completed installation of the new stoves just in time for the men lo serve the ladies a breakfast, Sunday, January II. Mr. nnd Mrs. Carl Youngren of Doug las County, and Mr. and Mrs. John Glubrccht were guests at the meal. Mrs. Gertie Huff was thanked for the trash burner. A public breakfast will be held February 22 with the proceeds go ing to the building fund. Everyone Is invited. The next meeting will be .lnnu- ry 21 at 8 p.m. at the Midland Grange Hall. 4-H NEWS FIRST MEETING MACDOI'X The first meeting of Ihe Macdoel 4-H Cluh of I'M was called to order by the presi dent. Monte Rohison, last Monday evening. Kenneth Duncan, assis '.ant district ranger, gave a brief report on the forestry project. Marcus Petty, limber manage ment assistant, was also present. Carroll Rnbison reported that live stock selling at Tulelake would sell top, good or better. Officers for this year arc president, Monte Robison: vice president, Dennis Cross; secrclnryl Sylvia Holbrook: reporter, l.yndn Holbrook; and rong leaders, Cinda Rnbison, Di ana Rohison, Sheila Wincharger and Katrina Holbrook. Bringing refreshments were Sylvia Hol brook, Linda Parson and Sandra Keele. A spit-second microwave service has been installed by Canadian National Railways.
