Al most everyone has one big special meal, but how about the olhers in between? Just snacks and left overs? No need for that. Here's some new lietty Crocker ideas just made tor flic holidays lor lunches and dinners. Try elegant Kabohs made of lamb cubes, onion, green pep pers and tomatoes, and servo with wild rice for dinner. Or try cin namon apples with liny pork saus ages and scrambled eggs for lunch. Served on a green bed of lettuce it's truly a iioliday sight. And if it's snacks you're afler, try this cheese bread, sliced thin wilh turkey left-overs. Of rnurse. there are many oilier ideas ... in addition to the tradi tinnal turkey . . . cranberry cov ercd pork (Imps, chicken casser oles, to nan a few. No matter what you prepare, mako the whole holiday season one to remember: KAWIMS l'j lb.-lamb shoulder or shank, c ut in 1 inch cubes French dressing (with gar lic i 2 large poppers 1 large oinnn 2 firm tomatoes .Marinate lamb shoulder 1 hour or overnight in French dressing. Cut peppers, onion, and toma toes in 1 inch pieces. Place in metal skewer alternating meat, peppers, onion, tomatoes. Roll in salad oil. Broil 3 inches from heal for Mi minutes, turning as they brown. Six servings. (Jl'ICK EGGNOG PIE :) inch baked pie shell 1 envelope unflavored gelatin 3 tablespoons cold water 2 cups commercially pro pared eggnog 1 cup whipping cream, whipped 'i cup sugar teaspoon salt 2 teaspoons vanilla or 1 tea spoon rum flavoring 'i teaspoon almond extract Soften gelatin in cold water. W arm eggnog over direct I o w heat; stir in the softened gelatin and continue heating until com pletely dissolved, (,'lnll unlil par tially set. lieat until smooth. Beat ugar, salt and flavorings into whipped cream; fold into eggnog mixture. Pour into baked pie shell. Chill 2 to 4 hours. CINNAMON APPLES WITH SALSGES 1 cup sugar j cup water 1-3 cup small red cinnamon candies 6 cored firm apples (peeling removea irom top ham 18 little pork sausascs Heat oven to 350 degrees (mod erate). Boil sugar, water, and cinnamon candies together 5 min utes. Place apples necledside- down in hot syrup and cook 5 minutes. Brown sausages in skil let. Remove apples from svrun ana place peeled-side-up in lndi- vioual custard or muffin cups or in one large baking pan. Place .1 browned sausages in center of each apple. Pour red cinnamon syrup ever all. Bake 30 minutes until tender. Serve hot in leafy green wreaths of watercress or lettuce, accompanied by fluffy rice with a hot cheese sauce. Six servings. JCGGNOG 1 egg. well beaten 2 tablespoons sugar 1 cup chilled rich milk ti teaspoon vanilla Nutmeg Beat egg and sugar together. n,.at in millr and vanilla Serve cold in tall glass sprinkled lightly wilh nutmeg. One and one half tablespoon sherry flavoring and 1 tablespoon either brandy or rum flavoring may be substituted for vanilla. CHEESE BREAD 1 egg I'i cups milk 3n cups Bisquick It cup grated natural sharp cheese such as Cheddar iiot mr.n tn 3.sn decrees (mod erate. Beat egg and add milk. Slir in Bisquick and cheese. Beat m seconds unlil well blended.'Pour into well-greased, waxed paper- lined loaf pan, 9xoxJ incnes. tsaKe 1 hour. Let cool a lew mimues; ice 2 inch thick and serve. la r Does !
