TU 2-2581 Mike Jordan Wins Contest Surprises that awaited football fans over the weekend also made their effects known to entrants in the Herald and News Football Ex perts Contest. I wo games on the list (Michi gan - Michigan State) and (Air Force Academy-Iowa ended in ties, and one game (Henley-Glen- dale) was not played at all. Despite these handicaps, we had winners this week. They were: Mike Jordan, 3317 Shasta Way, first prize; Bob Victorin, Malin, econd prize; Allan R. Taylor, Ma lin, third prize. Honorable mention winners were Mabel Porter, Francis Kenyon, George Shadle, Bob Flame, Ed win Malork, Dick Abraham, Wil liam Seaberry, Merle Halaas, Lar ry Binney, Dean Matlock. Dave Alexander, Vern Henngh, and A. Z. Woody, all of Klamath Falls; Bucky Wilson, Merrill; George H. Brady, Malin, and Tod Shelton, Lakeview. All these honorable mention win ners missed only five games. Contestants are reminded that tie-breaker games also are count ed as games in the contest, and the scores of those games are used to break ties. Thus games are counted both as games themselves and as games in scoring. TV CAUSES FIRES NEW YORK (UPI) Fire Commissioner Edward F. Cana nagh blamed television Sunday for at least part of a 90 per cent in crease m kitchen fires this year. Cavanagh said most of them oc cur between five and seven in the evening. He suggested cooks keep their eyes on the pot instead of the TV screen. However, the KFPA added that there was positive evidence of hun ters' carelessness. No sooner had deer season opened Saturday morn ing than crews found two aban doned campfires which could have given trouble. The cause of Mon day's fire was not yet known at the time of the report.
