KLAMATH FALLS, OREGON PAGE 5 D California Producers Of Lamb And Wool To Hold Convention August 14-15 California producers of lamb and wool will hold their 98th annual convention at the Sheraton-Palace Hotel, San Francisco, August 14-15, it was announced today by Do minic Eyherabide of Bakersfield, president of the Statewide Califor nia Wool Growers Association. A jam-packed program is slated for the two day meeting which is expected to draw a record at tendance this year. Don Clyde of Heber City. Utah. president of the National Wool Growers Association, is slated to address the convention on its onen ing morning. He will discuss the sheep industry's position in rela tion to that of other meat produc ers. On Friday, Stuart R. Ward, sec retary of the Commonwealth Club of California, will moderate a pan el discussion on lamb. Panel participants will include Eyherabide, representing the spring lamb producer; Don Phipps of Safeway Stores, representing retailers: Howard W. Eastwood, Los Angeles, manager for Wilson and Company representing nation al meat packers. To present the po sition of western independent meat packers will be Ernest A. Gunth er of Solano Meat Company, Val lejo. Terrill, act ing chief, Sheep, Goat and Fur Animal Research Branch, Agricul tural Research Service, U.S. De partment of Agriculture, Beltsville, mo. California sheepmen are more and more concerned with the need for research and breed improve ment. (UPI) The pace of today's traffic has prompted an 80-year-old Grand Rapids motorist to surrender his driver s license and give the keys ot nis 17-year-old car to a son-in-law. Emil R. Kuenzel received only one traffic ticket during his 40 years ot driving - for an illegal turn. "I'm too old to cope with to day s fast-moving traffic, said Kuenzel. "I don t want to hurt anybody and I don't want to get hurt." Kuenzcl's voluntary surrender of his license was brought to the at tention of Michigan Secretary of State James M. Hare who wrote him: 'Your fine attiude shows com mon sense and good citizenship.
