Reminiscent of days gone by is the long stocking look of stretch tights worn 'neath dresses and skirts. Dark-hued or bright, these have a decided "turn of the cen tury" look. More and more dark-toned, bulky knit socks will climb to the knee to show off low-flounced dresses, chemiserie and middy types. Many of them will be striped or circular, others will have clocks and novelty ribbing. Deep-crowned hats, like big sis srs's "wig" caps and "flapper sh'' headache bands will tickle lie teens' fancy, too. Prissy white collars, cuffs too, will spark dark-toned chemise styled apparel. The teen tribe will stock-up on good-looking, "gooped-up" bill folds and cloulch purses . . . will "jangle, jangle along" with dan gle type bracelets . . . wear a discreet pearl, heart or other charm at her throat and have lots of scarves to top her sweaters, flaunt at a pocket or cover her head. Of course all types of pants will be pets of the teen sets for after school and relaxin'. They'll go for the new "knick- er look, the tradional caprl. pedal pushers, bermudas and ja maica lengths and of course western-styled blue jeans will continue to be "de rigeur" in various parts of the country. Choosing jewelry for back-to-school wear with planning and forethought will readily attest to the smart student's "high fash ion" I.Q., the Fashion Coordina tion Institute declares. There are certain jewelry "bas ics" everyone should own. Simple earrings, both button and drop, a classic pearl necklace, and several tailored as well as more ornate pins make an ideal jew elry "starter". Pins can be used to dress up a costume in many ways. Fas tened on a hair ribbon or bow (or daytime, they add interest to a plain sweater and skirt outfit. Longer rope necklaces and chains can be flatteringly draped to fit a neckline by fastening them to one side with a colorful pin, or individualized "pendant" effects can be made by fasten ing a large pin to a rope or chain at the bustline. Pack Them Off to School With Quality Luggage Few other necessities on a stu dent's "needed" list for college last as long .or add to prestige as good luggage. In many dormitories, students practically live out of a suitcase or trunk; frequent visits home or overnight jaunts make luggage NEW PRINTS! Remember the antique carpet bags? Now those lovely tapestry type prints appear on cottons that make delightful dresses for the young' lady. bought for student use an invest ment which should be carefully considered. Boys most frequently come out on the short end of things when well-meaning friends and rela tives present them with family discards and too often the un matched, unfashionable cases are actually designed to be used by a woman. The average fellow with an eye towards being in fashion will want a masculine-styled suit er bag and companion for acces sories. A brief case or attache case will carry papers as well as a change of linen for an overnight trip. Popular colors are ginger and sun tan, in that order. A girl needs a basic set which may begin with either a pullman or hanger (wardrobe) case, de pending on her packing prefer ences. A train box or fitted case for cosmetics, and a weekender bag to match will see her through most of her travels. Also useful are hat-and-shoe cases or separate bags for each, and the all-purpose duffle . bag which doubles for sports. Fashion-wise, there is an al most unlimited choice of color. material and style from which to choose. Gay plaids, eye-catching stripes, or elegant solid tones are available. For long life, choose carefully constructed luggage important details such as firmly attached handles, smooth lining and neat stitching usually indicate a well made case.
