JULY 25. 1959 Holdup Try By Cripple NEW YORK (AP)-Mr. Lena Ernst was driving along Itncka way Parkway in Brooklyn yester day when she saw a man in a wheel chair thumbing a ride. She was wary of hitchhikers. but she decided she couldn't pass this one by. So she stopped. A bystander helped the man and his wheel chair into the back seat, and she drove on. Suddenly a gun was puked against her neck and the crippled man said: "Give me your dough and you won't get hurt." Mrs. Ernst, 38. spoiled a police patrol car as she slowed for a red light. "Help!" she screamed. "There's a cripple with a gun in the back of my car!" Two patrolmen rushed over to the car. The man was identified as Stanley Emanuel, 36. The gun was a toy cap pistol. Vicious Dog Not Vicious SPRINGFIELD. Mo. (AP) , Chico, a German shepherd being trained for police work, was sent to a veterinary hospital with an upset stomach. Rut Chico had hardly been ad mitted to the hospital before he became an out-patient. Approach the dog with caution, warned police, explaining that he had been trained to be suspicious of strangers. Two days of futile search passed and then Mr. and Mrs. F. T. Learning notified headquarters that they had the dog. He had bounced into their hack yard and insisted on shaking hands with their children, the Learnings said. Church Planning Bible School Zion Lutheran Church, Eleventh and High streets, has scheduled Its annual summer Rible School for July 2D through August 8. Ses sions begin at 1:15 p.m. and close at 4 p.m. The pastor of Zion, Hugo M. Warnke, has announced that the lessons for this year are particu larly timely. They deal with God as the center of every life. They tell how God in six days created all things. This is particularly nec essary in this day of doubt as to the origin of our world, says the pastor. Also to he pre sented on this "Country Spectac ular" program are Little David and Hiirshel Clothier and his Okla homa Travelers. Frizzcll, who has many hit re cordings and house attendance records to his credit, needs no introduction to western music fans. He is currently the star on the Town Hall Party and "Cpunlry America" TV programs. He has been guest star on the "Per ry Como Show." "Grand Ole Op- ry, Ranch Parly," "Big 'D' Jamboree, " "Louisiana Hayridc," and many others. Freddie Hart has made several hit records for Columbia. In I!I5B he wrote and recorded "Loose Talk," the top selling record of that year. He is a regular star on the "Town Hall Party" and "Country Amer ica" shows, as well as the "Grand Ole Opry" and "Ranch Party" film scries. Little Davis is currently one of the top exponents of rock n roll on TV in the Los Angeles area. Clothier and his Travelers are a very popular outfit in the South west, and will be making their in itial appearance in the Northwest Saturday. Walston, Adel, recently partic ipated in a field training exercise with the 24th Infantry Division in Germany. The 23-year-old soldier was graduated from Dufar High School in 1053. and was formerly employed by the U.S. Department ol Agriculture, Estacada. To Santa Barbara Mrs. Ernest Givan, Bonanza, is spending two weeks with her daughter. Mrs. Joe Hynes and family in Santa Bar bara. Mrs. Givan was accomp anied by her son Gordon of Port land. Bo nanza, spent several days at New port visiting his mother, Mrs. Aud rey Carnes, who is in the hos pital with broken legs. Mrs. Carnes is a former Bonanza resident. Junction Donna Fulk of Cave Junction is spending two weeks in Bonanza at the home of her aunt, Mrs. Reg Thomas and family. Margie and Butch Thomas have returned to their Bonanza home after two weeks at Cave Junction wilh their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Monroe. In Hospital Mrs. Ted .Carnes. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Lovelady of Bonanza, is in a Newport hospital suffering from two broken legs received when she was struck by a car. Visiting Cheryl. Stewart of Bo nanza is visiting at DallaV Ore gon, for several weeks with the Ivan Hodges. Bonanza visitors at the Don llnrsley home are Lola Marei and Carole Horslcy, both of Klamalh Falls. New Arrival Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Cramer of Fort Klamath are proud parents of a son. their first child, horn Tuesday, July 15. The baby has been named David Wayne. Mrs. Ticknor is a patient in Sacred Heart Hos pital in Medford. From Tarnma S.Sgt. Wilfred i1.oo.sley, U.S. Air Force, is on 10- day leave in ForL. Klamath visit ing his mother, Mrs. Raymond S. Loosley, and his sister and fam ily, the Hollis Kizers. at the Loose ly ranch south of Fort Klamath. He is stationed at McChord Air Base near Tacoma, Washington, and is in Fort Klamath to help wilh the haying at the Loosley ranch. His wife and children re mained at McChord. Tn Kansas Bill Dearborn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wes Dearborn of Langell Valley, flew from Fort Ord, California, to Fort Riley, Kan sas, to take his Army training. From Japan M Set. and Mrs. Allan Peters and their five chil dren spent several days in Fort Klamath visiting his sister and famiiy, the Raymond E. Van Wormers. The Peters have just returned from Japan where they spent three years on the Chiba Peninsula near Tokyo. They art now stationed in Greenville, Mis sissippi. Mrs. Ann Peters, mother of Peters and Mrs. Van Wormer, San Jose, spent the weekend in Fort Klamath. Hospitalized Lamar i Andy) An derson of Fort Klamath is a' pa tient at Hillside Hospital as a re sult of sustaining a broken left leg in a recent logging accident. He was employed by the Brown Lum ber Company in logging west of Fort Klamath when a log rolled on his leg.
