(AP) To bare or not to bare that is the question facing the night club operators here. This capital of live entertain ment has gone all out for nudity. Showgirls stripped to the waist have become as emmon as slot machines. Some wear little more than a few strategic sequins, and a few don't even bother with that. The climax came with the im portation of the Paris Lido show at the giant new Stardust Hotel. A dozen statuesque foreign beau ties paraded across the stage in a manner that could win them chest colds in the air-conditioned thea ter. Is this nudity good or bad for Las Vegas? You hear it bolh ways, judging from which side of the Strip you are on. The newer hotel-casinos on the west side of the Strip, as the nightclub-studded treet is known, have thrived on it. The more es tablished places on the east side are tsk-tsking. "I think it's bad." said Ben Ooffstein of the Riviera. Wheat Fine SeAt$l.09 A marketing quota penalty rate of $1.09 per bushel has been an nounced for "excess" wheat of the 1958 crop. Earl Wilson, chairman. Klamath County Agricultural Sta bilization and Conservation Com mittee, said today. As directed by law, the rate was set at 45 per cent of wheat parity price as of May 1. Under the marketing quota pro gram, the chairman explains, i farmer who does not comply with his tarm s wheat acreage allot mcnt is subject to a penalty on his farm marketing excess; the quotas and penalties do not apply. however, to a farmer who har vests 15 acres or less of wheat or who has signed an agreement permitting him to proxluce up to 30 acres of wheat for feed use on his farm. Farmers who have excess plant ed wheat acreage may avoid the marketing penalty by adjusting their acreage to the farm allot ment witl.n a reasonable time before harvest. The deadline for such adjustments in Klamath County is August 1 on dryland and August 15 on irrigated land. Wilson points out that none ot the wheat produced on a larm where the acreage allotment is exceeded and not adjusted before the deadline is eligible for price support. The national average minimum support for the 1958 wheat crop is 11.78 per bushel; this minimum will be increased if 75 per cent of the effective parity price as of July t is nigner than, the announced minimum. Although named for P. T. Bar- num's famous elephant, the vil lage of Jumbo, Ohio, hardly has an elephantine population. Only twelve persons live in Jumbo. In this connection, you may be interested in what USDA's foreign agricultural service has found in looking at the diets of people in Asia. The service studied diet reports from 12 nations in the Far East.
